About a third of the 1973 camp will be women stu dents. Fish camp provides top high school students enrolled at A&M a transition to college life. Ses sions and small group discussions will be oriented on A&M tradi tions, student and religious ac tivities and moral standards. Weston said the theme of the 1973 camp is “Aiming the Stu dent at YMCA-Level Moral Standards.” An upperclass counselor for each two freshmen at the camp will live in close proximity to the first year students, to answer questions and develop points made by area ministers and A&M faculty-staff in class-type ses sions. Freshmen are invited to fish camp on the basis of their high school academic records and ex tra-curricular activities. A pre requisite is earlier attendance at a summer new student confer ence. Counselors are sophomore and junior student leaders who have successfully adjusted to college life. “They can still remember the problems of their freshman year and relate to the new student,” Weston said. They are due back on campus at noon Thusday, Aug. 30. A&M Fall semester classes start Monday, Sept. 3. A&M Selected For Computer Installation A&M has been selected as one of three sites in the nation for installation of Crystallographic Network computer terminals cap able of displaying three-dimen sional graphics. One terminal has already been installed in the Chemistry Depart ment at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York. A&M and the Cancer Institute in Phil- adlephia are scheduled to receive identical equipment in October. When the communications link becomes operational, all three terminals will be connected to a computer at Brookhaven’s Central Scientific Computing Facility. The A&M terminal will be lo cated in the Biochemistry and Biophysics Department and be primarily used by a research team headed by Dr. Edgar Meyer. Dr. Meyer is principal investigator for a project entitled “Development of a Crystallographic Computing Network with Three-Dimensional Display Capability” and support ed by a three-year $240,000 Na tional Science Foundation grant. The overall “Crystnet” project also is supported by NSF. Dr. Meyer noted the three-di mensional displays made possible by the special terminals provide distinct advantages for studies of complex molecules. The A&M professor, who holds a collaborative appointment at Brookhaven, helped initiate “Crys tnet.” He, along with Dr. Carl Morimoto, Dr. Tom Willoughby and David Klunk from TAMU, worked on the project at Brook haven during the summer. Dinner Tickets Deadline Friday Persons wishing to join in honoring A&M’s retiring Dean of Students James P. Hannigan have until Friday, Aug. 31, to get tickets to the appreciation dinner.
