Probable entries include Rich ard Petty and Buddy Baker, who will carry the banner for Chrys ler in a pair of Dodges. Petty will be going after his third win at the Texas oval. The Randle- man, N. C. charger took the checkered flag in the 1971 Texas 500 and again in last June’s 500- miler. Baker hopes to match Petty’s win record with a second consecutive victory at Texas World Speedway after edging out A. J. Foyt for a win in the Texas 500 last November. General Motors is expected to be represented by a strong four some of Chevrolets and a lone Pontiac entry. The entries of Bobby and Donnie Allison along with Cale Yarborough and Ben ny Parsons should give Chevro let its best chance ever for a win at the 2-mile, high-banked fa cility. The Pontiac challenge will come from Houston’s H. B. Bail ey. Bailey’s new Grand Am could give Pontiac its first NAS CAR Grand National win since ’63. Two strong contenders from the Ford Motor Company camp that could produce a winner are Bobby Isaac in the “small block” Ford and David Pearson in the Wood Brothers Mercury. Isaac’s continued good performance on super speedways with the little Ford places him among the fav orites. The Catawba, N. C. chauf feur won the inaugural Texas 500 at TWS in 1969. Pearson, winner of five consecutive races this season, will definitely be a SKAGGS MAN IN GOLD ALBERTSONS) SPECIALS! DRUGS & FOODS BONELESS SHOULDER top choice for a win in the Ala mo 500.
