Pag-e 10 College Station, Texas Wednesday, November 15, 1972 THE BATTALION Big Brother Will Be Watching Saturday Afternoon It’ll be brother against brother here Saturday afternoon when A&M freshman Skip Walker and brother Cornelius from Rice get together. It won’t be just team against team for the two Del Valle na tives, it will be head to head con frontations. Skip has been given another starting nod at right half back while big brother mans the defensive left tackle position. It seems that Cornelius has al ready got a few good licks in on Skip at home at the dinner table. Skip at 5-10, 180 gives up four inches and 60 pounds to his soph omore brother. “He called me Sunday night,” Read Battalion Skip related. “He just wanted to call to remind me about the game this week and that he’ll be ready. He says that they’re going to win and I just say wait and see. There is no bet on the game, but we know that whoever loses has to face the other one at home during the holidays.” Rice tried to get little brother Skip last year during recruiting season, but failed to win his heart even with a little persuasion from Cornelius. “He wanted me to come and mwiuei CLOSED THANKSGIVING DAY NOVEMBER 23 1972 SUPER TASTE BAKING HENS play with him at Rice,” Skip said. “We’ve played together ever since we were young. I guess I liked the coaches here better and want ed to come. Besides, Rice thought I was a little small.” He was a little small coming here at the beginning of fall train ing, but he’s up from 160 to 180 now and is tied for second in team scoring with 18 points. Against SMU last week, Skip got 12 of those points. Did he think he'd ever get to play as a freshman for the Ag gies ? “I really wanted to play as a freshman,” he said. “I never thought I’d be a starter though. I also was surprised that I’d get to work out with the varsity right at first. I thought I’d probably start with the freshmen and then move up if I played well enough.” Playing as a freshman does cause some problems as Skip well knows, but he feels that he’s got the hang of it now. “There was a lot of pressure at first for us not to make mistakes,” he said. “The coaches knew we’d make some but we felt we should n’t. The fumbles were due to a lack of confidence. We were new and nervous and now we’ve gained some experience and things are looking up.” The most difficult task Satur day afternoon will be which team does Mr. and Mrs. James Walker pull for? The “baby” of the fam ily usually gets the attention and let’s hope that the baby’s team can pull its third straight confer ence win. lol 61 SUPER TASTE TOM TURKEYS USDA Grade ‘A’ 16 Lbs. and Up lb 37 SUPER TASTE HEN TURKEYS USDA Grade ‘A’ 10 Lbs. and Up lb Rath’s FRANKS. 12-oz.
