Page 10 College Station, Texas Wednesday, October 25, 1972 THE BATTALION Dusek’s Found A Home In Aggie Wishbone m Texas A&M’s Brad Dusek has found a home. He is alive and well at fullback in the Aggie Wishbone. Dusek, now a senior, came to Aggieland as an All-America safety and quarterback from Temple. His father. Big Ed Du sek, played fullback and lineback er for the Aggies in 1942-46-47 and there wasn’t any other school for Brad when it came time to sign. As a freshman, Dusek spent most of his time at safety where he was named the Southwest Con ference’s outstanding freshman. He was switched to running back as a sophomore, but a pulled ham string crippled his season. As a junior, it was back to safety. He finished the year as the team’s third leading tackier, had three interceptions, recovered two fumbles and was named sec ond team All-SWC. Then Emory Bellard brought his Wishbone to Texas A&M, and he had a fullback waiting for him. “Brad would be a good fullback in any offense,” Bellard said. “He’s a contact football player and is similar to Steve Worster in ability to cut at the line of scrimmage. He has good hands and is an exceptional blocker.” he loves that defensive contact. “I like running with the foot ball,” he said. “I ran when I was a sophomore and it isn’t all that hard to adjust. I’ve watched a couple of Steve Worster films and I’m proud to be compared to him.” The change to fullback this season was not a disheartening occurrence for Brad even though Dusek was pictured on the cover of Texas Football Maga zine, but it looked like that old jinx was going to get him again. He strained a knee after catching a screen pass against Nebraska and did not play against LSU and Army. But he was back in the lineup against Texas Tech in the SWC opener and responded with 112 yards in 21 carries. He put to- g e t h e r back-to-back 100-plus games with 104 yards in 18 car ries against TCU. Dusek wears No. 44, the first Aggie to wear that number since John David Crow carried it to Heisman Trophy fame in 1957. When the Aggies play Baylor in Waco Saturday night, you can bet the Bears will be paying a lot of attention to the number. After a long struggle, it looks like the 6-2, 212-pounder is final ly ready to show the world.
