H Nick Bournham was second for the top spot and Dan Gamblin was third. B The Rodeo, which is sponsored every year by the Aggie Rodeo Club, drew 140 contestants for the Bne events. The rodeo boasted bareback bronc riding, calf rop ing, steer wrestling and bull rid ing. There were also two events for girls, barrel racing and goat- tying. i| “We had probably as many en tries as ever before in the nine events,” said Nick Bournham, Ro deo Club reporter. “And we were happy with the turn out.” The money collected by gate leceipts will go to finance the •-awsae Bggi e Rodeo team for inter-col- »nd Volleyh I Managemer legiate competition. The Aggies belong to the southern region composed of 12 schools in Texas and Louisiana. The Aggie Rodeo team mem bers will compete, along with their counterparts in 10 rodeos across the region. The team members are awarded points in each event in which they place. The points are accumulated and at the end of the rodeo sea son, the top two teams and the top three individuals in each event are sent to the National Finals in Bozeman, Mont. “Most of the money is used to defray the cost of the trips,” said Bournham. “And some is used to sponsor the A&M Intercollegiate Rodeo.” The Aggie Intercollegiate Rodeo is part of their 10 game circuit and is scheduled for April or May. Individual events and winners are: Bare Back Bronc Riding, Nick Bourham; Calf Roping, Ricky Goode; Saddle Bronc Rid ing, Harry Davis; Steer Wrestl ing, Dan Gamblin; Ribbon Roping, Nick Bournham; Bull Riding, Don Graham. In the girls events: Barrel Rac ing, LuAnn Potthast; Goat Tying, Rose Mary Watson. S. Spokesmen for the City Public Service Board said it was part of 624,000 gallons of fuel that leaked out of a 50-year-old stor age tank which had been out of use for about 15 years. Officials for the utility also said the tank was inspected be fore filling operations between Sept. 28. The diesel fuel was being stored as a standby meas ure for the winter months, spokes men said. Ken Cave, water quality chief with the San Antonio River Au thority, reported seeing dead fish downstream from the site of the spill, a power plant. He said most of the fuel seeped into the ground around the tank, but about 50,000 gallons settled on the river. Officials of the city-owned util ity company said the leak was discovered Sunday and reported to the River Authority.
