Papr* 10 College Station, Texas Wednesday, August 30, 1972 THE BATTALI Press Tour Invades Aggie Football Camp For Nev Over 30 sports writers and isports broadcasters rolled into College Station today to inter view new head coach and athletic director Emory Bellard and the 1972 Texas Aggie football team. The press tour is designed to give the states’ finest journalists a chance to get interviews, reports and general feelings of the play ers and coaches of all SWC foot ball teams before the season starts and schedules become con flicting. The tour began in Lubbock on Monday and traveled to Arkansas Tuesday before coming to Aggie- land late Tuesday evening. The tour moved Wednesday afternoon to Houston for interviews with the Rice team, then to Austin, Waco, Fort Worth and Dallas where it concludes with the SMU Mustangs. Tuesday night the members were guests of the A&M Athletic Department at Little John’s Bar becue with an informal get-to gether at A&M’s Press Room at the Ramada Inn following the dinner. Sports Information Director Spec Gammon was in charge of all activities concerned with the tour while it was at A&M. Wednesday morning the team members were introduced to the tour members at Kyle Field, where pictures and interviews were taken. Coach Bellard then held a conference to discuss the Aggies’ chances for the SWC crown and a Cotton Bowl bid on January 1. Bellard went down the roster position by position and gave his thoughts on how each man stacked up.
