This means Chile is unable to keep up its present schedule of repaying what it owes. 1 resident Salvador Allende went on national radio to make his announcement. He blamed previous Chilean governments for the predicament. Castro comes here today at the invitation of Allende, a close friend. The visit is to last 10 days and Castro will go from the north ern desert to the southern fjords and trout-filled lakes of this long and narrow South American na tion. It will be the first trip to a Latin-American country for the 45-year-old Castro since 1959 and his first trip anywhere outside Cuba since 1964, when he went to Moscow. Chile’s Popular Unity coali tion government, which includes Communists and Socialists, and the Castro regime have been basking in the warmth of Marxist friendship since the 63-year-old Allende was inaugurated Nov. 3, 1970. Allende, a frequent visitor to Cuba before he became the first democratically elected Marxist president in the Western Hemi sphere, established diplomatic re lations with Cuba on Nov. 12, 1970. Since then, both countries have instituted cultral and sports ex changes and signed trade pacts totaling $12 million a year, most ly in barter agreements. Many of Allende’s left-wing supporters look to the Castro regime as a model for Chile’s government. A number of his ad ministration officials have work ed in Cuba to learn how the Cas tro government operates. Communist and Socialist youth work parties, in paint-stained jumpsuits and plastic hardhats, were busy Tuesday morning put ting the final touches to brightly colored wall murals and welcome signs under sunny springtime skies. Other youth groups painted “Welcome Fidel” signs along the brick walls linking the highway linking the capital with Pudahuel International Airport in rolling farmland near the foothills of SPKIAIS GOOD THUDS., FRI., SAT., NOV. 11, 12, 1J stHh U.S.D.A. The government newspaper La Nacion said, in a reference to single stars on the Chilean and Cuban flags: “Now the two stars are not alone.” But not all Chileans seemed anxious for Castro to visit Chile. The conservative newspaper La Tribuna which refers to him as a “tyrant” or “the jackal of the Caribbean,” said “True Chileans repudiate the visit.” Drill Team will march at Fish game The Fish Drill Team will march at halftime Thursday at the A&M Fish-Texas Tech Picador football game on Kyle Field. The seven-minute performance will be the team’s second for pub lic view and an important step toward defense of the National Intercollegiate ROTC Drill Cham pionship won in Washington last April by the 1970-71 team. Commander Mark Roberts of Fort Hood led the 27-cadet team in its first exhibition Saturday during the march-in to the A&M- SMU game. “The team will do pretty much the sequence to be used at the Houston competition Dec. 4,” commented Louis Ullrich, senior advisor of San Antonio.
