Tickets for the 1971 Century
Club Luncheon Saturday at A&M
will be available at the door, the
Association of Former Students
Office reported.
President Jack K. Williams will
be featured speaker at the pro
gram honoring former students
and friends of A&M who con
tributed $100 or more during a
calendar year.
The association expects more
than 500 will attend the 12:15
p.m. luncheon in the west wing
of Sbisa Dining Hall. Tickets are
$3.50 per person.
Dr. Williams will reflect on his
first year as head of the A&M
University System. Entertain
ment will be provided by the
Singing Cadets.
Association Executive Director
Richard (Buck) Weirus calls the
Century Club “the backbone of
the annual giving program.”
The luncheon is one way the
former students attempt to com
municate with Century Club
members about A&M today,
Weirus added.

A&M, WTSU to offer
cooperative MS
A&M and West Texas State
University have entered into an
agreement to offer a cooperative
master’s degree program in
agronomy.
Dr. George W. Kunze, A&M
graduate dean, said the agree
ment allows qualified West Texas
State students to transfer a
maximum of 12 hours of academic
credit for an M.S. degree in
agronomy awarded by A&M.
West Texas State does not
offer graduate degrees in agron
omy, while A&M has established
programs on both the master’s
and doctoral levels.
The agreement between the two
universities has been “heartily
endorsed” by the Coordinating
Board, Texas College and Uni
versity System, Dean Kunze
noted.

Cadets help evacuate children
from path of Hurricane Fern
children are coming from, but
arrangements are being made to
accommodate as many as possible,
though little is known of what
to expect.
“Within 10 minutes of the time
Corps Commander Tom Stanley
heard about the request, he had
a detail ready to go,” a com
mandant’s staff official said.
The detail was headed by Corps
Sergeant Major Ron Krnavek.
Reports indicate that the chil
dren are being evacuated from
a Lake Jackson orphanage. There
were 25 Aggies involved in the
clean-up project.

Members of A&M’s Corps of

Thursday to help some young

From 20 to 30 children were

Some rooms at the Central
Brazos Valley Mental Health
Center; Inc., needed to be cleaned
up, so the duty nurse asked if
some Aggies might help. The
center is the old St. Joseph’s
