President Jack K. Williams will be featured speaker at the pro gram honoring former students and friends of A&M who con tributed $100 or more during a calendar year. The association expects more than 500 will attend the 12:15 p.m. luncheon in the west wing of Sbisa Dining Hall. Tickets are $3.50 per person. Dr. Williams will reflect on his first year as head of the A&M University System. Entertain ment will be provided by the Singing Cadets. Association Executive Director Richard (Buck) Weirus calls the Century Club “the backbone of the annual giving program.” The luncheon is one way the former students attempt to com municate with Century Club members about A&M today, Weirus added. ★ ★ ★ A&M, WTSU to offer cooperative MS A&M and West Texas State University have entered into an agreement to offer a cooperative master’s degree program in agronomy. Dr. George W. Kunze, A&M graduate dean, said the agree ment allows qualified West Texas State students to transfer a maximum of 12 hours of academic credit for an M.S. degree in agronomy awarded by A&M. West Texas State does not offer graduate degrees in agron omy, while A&M has established programs on both the master’s and doctoral levels. The agreement between the two universities has been “heartily endorsed” by the Coordinating Board, Texas College and Uni versity System, Dean Kunze noted. ★ ★ ★ Wainerdi co-editor of geochemical book Dr. Richard E. Wainerdi, A&M’s assistant vice president for academic affairs, is co-editor of a new book, “Modern Methods of Geochemical Analysis.” The 397-page book, which in cludes contributions by three other A&M faculty members, was published by the Plenum Press of New York and London. Dr. Wainerdi, who founded A&M’s Activation Analysis Re search Laboratory, edited the book with Dr. E. A. Uken, former graduate student here and now a member of South Africa’s Scientific Advisory Council. Dr. Herman A. Liebhafsky, professor of chemistry, wrote a chapter on X-ray techniques. Dr. Lloyd Fite, AARL associate head, and Dr. Emile A. Schwei- kert, associate professor of chem ical engineering, contributed to a chapter on nuclear activation analysis. The book includes a foreword by Sir Edward Bullard of Cam bridge University, one of the world’s foremost geoscientists.
