The Lions Club also won by ousting 57-B in Class C volleyball cham pionships. Playoffs in Class B softball and Class C tennis begin Wednes day, March 24. On the same day, Class A and C softball will begin. Class A and B tennis begins Thursday. It will be the first time for the classes to be com bined. Lack of time has been the cause of the combining this year. Stallings with first Coach Gene Stallings said he was very pleased with the effort Tuesday after he watched his more than 100 football prospects go through about two hours of drills in the first day of spring football practice. "We had some real good effort, but we’ve got a long way to go and we’ll get there,” Stallings said. Coach Dennis Fosdick visits his two Aggie swimmers, Eric Wolff (front) and Steve Prentice, who will be representing A&M in the National Collegiate Athletic Association swim ming and diving championships Thursday through Satur day at Ames, Iowa. (Photo by Mike Rice) The Aggies came through the first day without any injuries and this was especially pleasing at the linebacker spot where Steve Luebbehusen, Gary McCaffrey and Dennis Carruth played little —and when they did, played with injuries—last seasan. All put in a healthy first day. Running back Clifford Thomas, who suffered a shoulder separa tion the first workout last fall and missed the entire season after starting out as the number one right halfback, was back in action Tuesday and according to Stall ings also will do some work at the safety spot vacated by All- America Dave Elmendorf, one of four seniors to complete his eligi bility.
