The trophy, named for the late Southwest Conference radio broadcaster Kern Tips, was pre sented to Burnett by James H. Galloway, Vice President and member of the Board of Direc tors of Humble Oil & Refining Company. It is given each year to the outstanding senior football play er in the Southwest Conference, who, in addition to his ability on the field, is academically ranked, displays good sportsmanship and is of high moral character. Despite missing a large por tion of the season with a shoul der separation, Burnett estab lished an impressive record of rushing and scoring honors. He holds the Arkansas ca reer record for scoring and rush ing, was Southwest Conference scoring leader in both 1968 and 1969, and missed being confer ence scoring leader this year by one touchdown. He is almost assured of being the NCAA career leader in points scored per game with an average of 11.48 for 25 games. Burnett TODAY THRU SATURDAY Showtimes 1:15 - 3:15 - 5:15 - 7:15 - 9:15 P.M. The winter meetings of SWC coaches and officials will be held today, Friday and Saturday, at the Baker Hotel. Athletic directors and head coaches are meeting today from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Athletic direc tors, coaches and business man agers meet from 8:30 a.m. until noon Friday. Faculty representa tives begin their sessions at 1 p.m. Friday and continue again at 9 a.m. Saturday. The University of Texas at Austin will propose that the Uni versity of Houston be invited to join the conference. If this pro posal is accepted, Texas will rec ommend that a committee of SWC officials meet with a similar committee representing the Uni versity of Houston to formulate admission plans. Among the other topics to come under consideration by the faculty representatives: sure! A physical check-up, made while you’re well, can keep you that way! See your doctor. See us for medicines. Joe Shaffer’s REDMOND TERRACE DRUGS 1402 Hwy. 6 South 846-5701 FAST FREE DELIVERY Adoption of a policy that would make it possible for athletic di rectors of the member institutions to attend conference meetings in an advisory capacity. Should this policy be adopted each school would still be limited to one vote, to be cast by the faculty repre sentatives; Football ticket prices for the 1971 season. This season confer ence game ticket prices were $6 for reserved seats, $3 for end zone seats, half price for students of the visiting school, and $1 for high school students and service personnel; Consideration and general re view of coaches’ agreements on recruiting; The possibility of increasing the maximum limit on freshman basketball games from 12 to 16, with a maximum of six games away from home; Permitting summer school work to be counted toward meeting academic requirements for ath letic eligibility. Currently, only work posted during regular school sessions counts toward eligibility; Policy regarding participation of freshmen on both varsity and freshman squads. The SWC now permits freshmen to participate in varsity athletics in all sports except football and basketball, with the stipulation that once a freshman engages in a sport on the varsity level he cannot later in the season play on the fresh man level. The suggestion is that freshmen be allowed to partici pate on both levels, so long as they do not participate in more contests than SWC rules permit. 1970 TOYOTA $1830.00 BRAZOS VALLEY TOYOTA INC.
