Texas, which supplanted Ohio State as No. 1 a week ago, re ceived 20 first-place votes and 701 points from a panel of 40 sports writers and broadcasters after trouncing Southern Meth odist 42-15 for a 6-0 record. Notre Dame, which began the season in sixth place but has moved up steadily, also won its sixth in a row, blasting Navy 56-7. Ohio State also is unbeaten in six starts. Nebraska, Michigan and Stan ford held onto the 4-5-6 spots with Michigan getting two first- place votes and Stanford one. Nebraska whipped Colorado 29- 16, Michigan downed Wisconsin 29-15 and Stanford crushed Ore gon State 48-10. Arkansas and Tennessee each moved up one place to seventh and eighth, respectively. The Razorbacks shellacked Texas A&M 45-6 and the Vols ham mered Wake Forest 41-7. Air Force, which needed a last- second field goal to edge Arizona 23-20 and maintain its undefeated status, skidded from seventh to ninth and Auburn made it back into the Top Ten, up from 12th, with a 63-14 mauling of Florida. Ybarbo, who had placed first in all three meets he had run in this season, and Moncivaiz had placed second, third and seventh in his three meets. The University of Texas at Austin and Southern Methodist University both took full teams of seven to the meet and placed second and fourth in the team division. Houston won the team division. SMU is the defending SWC champion and Texas is runnerup. Ybarbo and Moncivaiz placed in front of all Texas and SMU A&M offensive tackl& Andy Philley and linebacker Mike Lon! were reported doing okay Monday after undergoing surgery Sunday to repair torn knee ligament! suffered in the Aggies’ 45-6 loss to Arkansas Saturday. In Friday’s six mile event, Coach Ted Nelson said that both Ybarbo and Moncivaiz ran the best they have this year. Ybarbo crossed the three mile point in 14:37 and Moncivaiz 15.03, the fastest either has run this season. Ybarbo ran his open ing mile in 4:22. Mike Lord touchdown.
