When challenged that the midi length is unfeminine, she ex plained that women stride in short skirts. “In the new long- uette, one must move with con- sensuously and seduc- straint tively.” Mrs. Dawson was commenta tor of the Briarcrest Country Club annual Fall Fashion Show. Sponsored by Beverley Braley’s, the theme this year was “The Season of Choice.” Seven Dallas models displayed the fashions, proving Mrs. Daw son’s statement to be true. The look was long and elegant. “This is the total season,” stressed Mrs. Dawson, “the sea son of choice.” Take, for instance, a dumb pantsuit,” advised Mrs. Dawson. “Tuck the pant leg into matching lace-up knee boot and creat knickers.” Add a gaucho hat, and the look is saucy. Patchwork — scraps of plaid, velvet or any fabric — sewn into a skirt, mini, midi or maxi. Lace the patches with black velvet rib bon. Add a blouse of white ba tiste, choker collar and again boots. The look is romantic. “A midi suit in navy. To this add a scarf of red, white and blue at the throat. Complete the ensemble with black leather boots.” Cock a gaucho hat over one eye, and you are Garbo, and it is 1930. In foot and leg wear, the boot, mid-calf or knee-high, accent the new longer lines. Shoes and hosiery to match the dress, and the total together look is accom plished. Heels will become high er, not so ducky,” commented Mrs. Dawson. Belts are part of the total look. The waist is back with wide belts and narrow belts of suede, crushed leather, and again this year chains. The slave collar or choker is the big word in jewelry. “The banded neck draws attention up ward from the length created by the skirt,” she explained. Scarves continue their reign as favorite accessories. Long knit mufflers with matching hats and the wide brimmed gaucho top off fashionable fall ensembles. This season also salutes the re turn of the glove. “Pantsuits are in and will stay in,” predicted Mrs. Dawson. “They are the sign of the liber ated woman who wants to be comfortable as well as fashion able.” Pants with midi-length tunics, fringed leather vests, and tailor ed jackets are all on the fashion list for this fall for both day and evening wear. “Fall is the season and the colors are fall,” the commentator added, “with vibrant rich browns, golds and oranges, bright reds and purples.” Gray and black for evening wear will be vogue. In furs, the look is long and lean — seal with leather trim and mink stenciled to look It tigef. Or the look is short at! sassy — a mink poncho.
