THE BATTALION
Baptist students hear bare facts
Crews preparing
for construction
Award presented
Former owners of a San An
tonio striptease business will ex
plain why they closed their world-
famous club and gave their lives
to Christ during a special pro
gram Sept. 4 at the Baptist Stu
dent Union.
Guy Linton was known in show
business as the “King of the
Strippers.” His wife was bur
lesque teacher who took girls from
San Antonio’s West Side and gave
them names like Bonnie Anne
Clyde.
Guy and Evelyn Linton, owners
of the former Green Gate Club,
will tell their story at 8 p.m. A
question and answer session fol
lows, along with all the free ice
cream a person can eat.
But along came the New Or
leans Southern Baptist preacher
Bob Harrington, dubbed “The
Chaplain of Bourban Street,” who
took his Gospel into the Green
Gate and preached about the
Pearly Gates.
Guy and Evelyn got the mas-
sge. They invited Brother Bob
to their $150,000 home and on
April 4 of this year gave their
lives and hearts to Christ.
That night they closed the
Green Gate. Harrington later
brought the place and is opening
a Christian bookstore.
Guy says he will put his
“tainted money” to good use now
and Evelyn plans to spear-head
a campaign to outlaw stripping.
They will give the bare facts
Friday, Sept. 4.
