He is a transfer from Hill County Junior College. The Aggies lineup will defi nitely have the accent on youth this year with captain Mike Heit mann the only senior slated to start. Heitmann, a 6-4 forward, teams with junior postman Steve Niles as the only two starters returning for the Cadets. Heit mann finished with a 14.3 scoring average in ’68-69 while the 7-0 Niles had a 6.6 average last year with a 6.7 rebounding mark. Sophomore Rick Duplantis, a 6-8 postman will start at the high post and Bill Cooksey (6-2), a junior, will start at the other forward. Another junior, Pat Kavanaugh (6-1) will open at the all-important point position for Bill Brown, a 6-1 senior point from Galveston (Ball) and Jeff Watkins, a 6-4 forward-post who was the leading freshman scorer in the conference last year, will both see plenty of action with 6-5 Chuck Smith also available at either post or forward. 5:45 p.m. Bob Gobin (6-3), Bill O’Brien (5-11), Wayne Howard (6-4), Bryan Mezger (6-6), and Jeff Overhouse (6-7) will start for the Fish against the 5-1 Bucs. C., will be driving a B9 Mercury in both the qualifying round today and Son y’s Texas 500 at the Texas International Speedway. Several teams are building title cases at the mid-point of the Class A and C basketball race, with the Rinky Dinks, Squadrons 2 and 8 and Company F-2 assem bling the best arguments. A group from the College Sta tion area, the Rinky Dinks turned on the offense for a 59-24 victory over the Lutheran Student Asso ciation. Marv Zeig put up 18 points and Mel See added 17. Squadron 3 took Company M-l, 26-21, for two straight and F-2 used a balanced attack by Homer Strauss and Marv Hoetting to match the mark with a 39-18 success over Squadron 10. David Barnes and Charles Dean ac counted for 32 of Squadron 8’s 36 points in its second win in a row. Baptist Student Union evened its record with a 41-25 triumph over the Mexico Club and Doug Laukhuf scored 12 second half points in the Tennis Team’s Sl id romp past Alamo. Lloyd Lippe put in 18 points in A-2’s 39-29 victory over Squadron 6. In Class B football, A-2 took its second straight game by an 8-0 count over E-2. Phil Cosby returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a TD in A-l’s 14-8 win over Squadron 2. C-l crushed C-2, 16-0. Squadrons 1, 5, 7 and 10 won on penetrations. Four other shutouts completed the action. E-2 beat Squadron 6, 8-0; F-l took G-l, 6-0; Squad ron 9 downed G-2, 7-0, and 1-1 beat the White Band, 6-0. The company K-l freshmen carted off the division ping pong championship in recent intra mural activity which had two days of Class B basketball and Class A horseshoes wiped out by rain. K-l’s Richard Feder and Mike Major bested their opponents for the table tennis crown while run- nerup C-2’s Mike Mahone was taking John Gary by a pair of 21-16 counts. Undefeated in five matches, the Davis-Gary team consists of George Bringhurst, Alan Medoff, Mike McMeans, Louis Devito, Bill Smyth and Richard Hutson. Hart Hall and Law B took 22- 15 and 45-26 Class C basketball wins, respectively, over Schu macher and Moore B. Harold Lambert spearheaded a powerful F-2 offense in a 51-28 romp past Squadron 6, otherwise the Air Force prevailed. Squad rons 2, 3, 4, 5 8 and 11 posted wins at the expense of E-l, B-l, L-l, K-l, D-l and C-2. Ken Johse had the big hand in helping Squadron 2 to its first victory. Squadron 4 applied the stopper to football champ L-l, 38-20.
