Police are still searching for
clues as to the whereabouts of
the bank robber who made off
with $11,805 Tuesday afternoon
by threatening to explode a bomb
at an outdoor teller’s window of
the First Bank & Trust of
Bryan.
Shortly after the robbery, po
lice discovered the bandit’s car
abandoned two miles away. It
had been reported stolen.
Beverly Speakman, the teller
at the drive-in window of the
bank, told police the robber cov
ered his fingers and face with
adhesive tape.
Henry B. Clay, president of the
bank, said “The man drove up to
the window, and when she slid
out the tray, he put a satchel on
it. It had a note on it that said
the package was a bomb and he
would set it off if she didn’t put
money in the bag.
EASY DOES IT
Workmen gently position a concrete section of the grandstand while paving continues in
the background at the $8 million Texas International Speedway, six miles southeast of
College Station. Raceway officials say the track and the stands will be ready by the
first race day, Nov. 9, when the TIS Can-Am is scheduled to be run.
