He is Bob Gobin, a 185-pound two-sport star who chose the Aggies from 25 scholarship of fers. Among the top basketball powers eliminated by Gobin were Kansas and Oklahoma State. iv". /?»>'! NH SCHOOLBOY STANDOUT Bob Gobin of Perryton became the newest member of the Aggie basketball team last night when he signed with Aggie Coach Shelby Metcalf. Gobin is considered one of the five best prospects in the state. Shown with their son are Mr. and Mrs. James Gobin. Crowd Problems Considered one of the top five prospects in the State of Texas, Gobin eventually narrowed his choice to A&M, Texas, Texas Tech and SMU before deciding on the Aggies. Gobin said he based his deci sion on four points of which he placed academics first. “I want to take a good look at the program, I want to meet and find out all I can about the boys Pll be playing with, and I want to be" impressed by the coaches,” Gobin had said. “One reason I didn’t become in terested in Kansas is that I’ve heard about the problems they’ve been having with the SDS. I don’t want to run the risk of be ing hampered by such things as that.” A stand-out in both football and basketball at Perryton, Gob in prefers the cage sport. Gobin, who averaged 16.1 points per game this past sea son, was a two-time all-district selection in both football and basketball and he made the All South Plains team once in bas ketball and twice in football. Gobin was both an All-State and All-State Tournament team selection in basketball this past season and has been selected to play in the Coaches’ All-Star bas ketball game. A captain in both sports, Gobin won Perryton’s Fighting Heart Award in both sports also. In his three years as a starter on the Perryton basketball team, the squad posted a combined 64- 16 record. This includes a 16-6 record his sophomore season, 20-4 as a junior and 25-6 this past season. Gobin said he “enjoyed basketball better.” “You have to be able to do more things; you don’t have to specialize so much. . . . Basket ball, to me, is just a better sport all the way around.” Gobin has been impressed with A&M even before signing. “A&M has a good tradition, and it has a lot of support. Its people always are behind the Aggies 110 per cent and they have good players and coaches,” the Texas youngster had said. Grubbs said if schools wanted to file misdemeanor charges or kick a student out of school for rowdiness, it was their business. Crowd behavior came under close scrutiny here at the annual spring meeting of the SWC with the focus on the free-for-all at the Texas A&M-Baylor game last winter. <<r PVk*e» 1 v - 1 * a n H i'f- ficult problem and the athletic directors and coaches are going to work on it,” Grubbs said. “It all depends on the attitudes of the coaches, the players, the offi cials, and the student leaders.” In a day-long session, coaches and athletic directors worked on recommendations to be studied Friday by the faculty representa tives. The new Norelco Triple header gets around this problem. We put our unique rotary blades into three floating heads that follow your face by going in where your face goes in. And out where your face goes out. This way the new Norelco gets close enough to shave you as close or closer than a blade. As found in two out of three shaves in an inde pendent lab test. And you get a comfortable shave because the Norelco floating heads curve with your chin, bend with your neck, and even straighten out for your cheeks. Automatically. And with out a nick, pull or scrape. The new Norelco has a hidden trimmer that pops out for sideburns, and a push button for easy flip-top cleaning.
