Chairman Gary Rapp, senior from Galveston, said the discus sion series will “deal generally with international relations and aspects of life” in the countries represented at the bi-weekly ses sions. Each session will discuss a particular world region. The first will be Asia. Sayeed Hasan of Dacca, East Pakistan, vice chairman, pointed out discussion groups will be small enough so that each student will have an opportunity to par ticipate and expand his knowledge and understanding of the many cultures represented in the inter national student body. All students—international and domestic — interested in “such communication on the interna tional level are invited to the club's next meeting,” he said. Gavel Club members will dis cuss “American-Asian Relations” at 7 p.m. tonight in the YMCA. LOS ANGELES <A>> — Sirhan Bishara Sirhan tried to tailor his account of Sen. Robert F. Fitts led up to his questioning by citing Sirhan’s presence at the Ambas sador Hotel assassination scene two days before Kennedy’s June 5, 1968, shooting. Also, Fitts said, Sirhan prac ticed rapid firing at a target range a few hours before he put three bullets into Kennedy, who was campaigning for the Demo cratic presidential nomination. In each case, Fitts said, Sirhan tried to get around what might be construed as premeditation by initially denying the testimony of state witnesses. “SIRHAN has an enormous schizophrenic preoccupation with details,” Diamond said. “Sirhan seizes on individual items in his behavior, not of others, and makes a great to-do about his be ing right and others wrong. I can’t accept this as part of his legal strategy.” Sirhan is on trial for his life and the chief element of the first degree murder charge against him is that he premeditated Ken nedy’s death. The defendant appeared deeply disturbed by suggestions that he had lied. His lips on occasions formed obscenities in Fitt’s di rection. Faculty Refuses To Aid SDS Bid For Austin Meet AUSTIN <A>) — Efforts of Stu dents for a Democratic Society to overturn a University of Texas administration order banning an SDS meeting on campus this weekend failed to get faculty sup port Wednesday. Faculty members, by a 285-176 vote, refused to support SDS ef forts and instead approved a reso lution expressing gratitude to all parties involved in the dispute for taking their disagreements to the courts. University President Norman Hackerman ruled last week that a meeting of the National Council of SDS could not be held in the student union. Federal Dist. Judge Jack Roberts upheld his decision. The SDS appealed to the Fifth Court of Circuit Appeals in New Orleans and a decision was ex pected today. The city of Austin also refused the use of an auditorium to the SDS group.
