The Federal Food and Drug Administration might have a couple of other psychedelic drugs to cope with in the future. Although the hallucinatory effects of collards and corn- bread have not been thoroughly researched, Texas church leaders evidently have come to believe that there is a definite link between these two Southern delicacies and LSD. “Collards, cornbread and LSD” is the title of one group discussion to take place at the 23rd annual Town and Coun try Church Conference set here Oct. 10 and 11. Such a title as this might be overlooked if it weren’t for other such group discussions slated as: “Town and Country Competes with the Frug, Monkey and Noise.” “Uncle Tom, Wet Backs, Poor White Trash, Beatniks and Church Bells.” Following these thought-provoking discussions will be one which really has me stumped—“Wine, Women and Wel fare in The Town and Country Areas.” One question: what difference is there between wine, women and welfare in town and wine, women and welfare in rural areas? All I can say is that I hope to get a copy of next year’s program. ★ ★ ★ I would like to know what happened to the Texas delegates to the national democratic convention. Not one single vote was cast for Gene Stallings—not even one half vote. Alabama had the right idea. ★ ★ ★ One of the neighboring city’s entertainment pages contained an advertisement for a movie which had been Opinions expressed in The Battalion are those of the student ivriters only. It is the Petroleum Power pro gram, says Henry O’Neal, Exten sion agricultural engineer. The program includes projects on both small engines and tractors. adapted from a rather racy novel. In part, the ad read: “This book is so hot its cover should be made from as bestos ...” ★ ★ ★ It seems there are some rather disappointed men in Col lege Station at the moment. Rumor has it that quite a few contracts for Little League coaches have as yet not been renewed. Have heart fellows—they probably think you’re holding out anyway for a better percentage of the snow cone concession next year. The Small Engines project is divided into three units, begin ning with small engine power. The next two units are two- stroke cycle engines and four- stroke cycle engines. The 4-H member will learn how to oper ate and service small engines, care for them and make neces sary minor adjustments. His ex perience with two-cycle and four cycle engines will go well beyond the poWer lawn mower. DEXTER HAND SEWN MOGS • r ' at Mm Dtnrncr. w ^ mcn'0 mcnr THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH WELCOMES YOU ST.
