The Bridge Committee will compete on Amateur photographers will be interested in the Camera Committee, with its four fully equipped darkrooms for both color and black and white photographic work. Last year the committee sponsored its first national competition with Salon '67 Photography contests and instructions are made available through this organization. Frank W. Tilloy, Chairman. The purpose of the Chess Committee is to bring together students interested in the finest game of skill and intellect. The committee meets weekly; beginners are always welcome. Norman D. Gabitzsch, Chairman. !_ RMPORARY Cultural events, such as art exhibits, literary lectures, and film series are presented through this committee. The “Fall Festival of Film” will be extended to a spring series and several art collections are planned for exhibition in the Memorial Student Center throughout the year. Clinton D. Campbell, Chairman. DA NC The Dance Committee sponsors all university dances after football games and on weekends with top bands from across the state. GrRELAX ' ISSUES Through its Speakers Series, World Around Us Series, and Political Forum and Hydro-Space Fiesta—’68, the Great Issues Committee presents nationally and internationally known speakers who provide information on world wide topics of interest, and who promote intelligent discussions relative to these topics, sented. Great Issues members select, invite, and entertain each of the prominent speakers pre- I^JE^^.I3EI^SH!IP Each September, before the semester begins, the Leadership Committee sponsors the annual Student Leadership Conference. Student leaders from all major campus organizations, faculty representatives, and religious leaders join MSC Council and Directorate to exchange techniques of leadership, organization, management, and parliamentary procedure. The conference provides an opportunity for the stu dent leaders to meet many of the university administration, faculty, and staff. Leadership trips to Houston are also taken each November and March. PX^JIXX^/K> R^EX^^IlI Through the use of all news media, brochures, pamphlets, and displays, the members of this committee bring to the attention of the student body and community the activities and facilities available in the center. Betty E. Campbell, Chair man. J^^AlDXO This committee engages in all phases of amateur communications and electronics. The Committee’s station, W5AC, is equipped with the latest gear and an elaborate antenna system. The only requirement for membership is a genuine interest in the art of amateur communi cations. Theodore J. Wittliff, Chairman. RECREAT ION The Recreation Committee consists of three sub-committees: Bowling, Billiards, and Table Tennis. The Bowl ing Committee sponsors A&M’s only official bowling team, while also welcoming beginners. The Billiards Committee invites membership by anyone interested in pocket billiards or three cushion carom. Both Bowling and Billiard Committees participate in regional competition each spring in both male and female divisions, with winners going to the national intercollegiate finals. Table Tennis Committee members also compete in the Associ ation of College Unions Tourney. Instruction is available for beginners. Fred S. White, Chairman. STUDENT CONFERENCE ON NATIONAL AFFAIRS Better k now„ as SCON A, this Conference is held annually in December in the MSC. Attended by student representatives from more than 60 colleges and universities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, the Conference is a symposium to discuss national and international affairs. Eminent leaders in foreign affairs from government, industry, and education, guided the discussions of the delegates. Work in this committee involves the many arrangements necessary in presenting the Conference. This year’s topic for SCONA XIII is “THE PRICE OF PEACE IN SOUTHEAST ASIA.” William R. Howell, Vice-Chairman. TALENT T. Curd, Chairman. This committee maintains a list of talent prospects available to student groups and to the surrounding community. Michael / I OWN H^VI^/X^/ Some of the artists to be presented by the Town Hall Committee for the coming year are The Association, The Lyric Art String Quartet, The Bach Society of Houston, Johnny Rivers, Simon and Garfunkel, Carlos Montoya, and Mary Costa of the Metropoli tan Opera. Town Hall Committee members are actively involved in producing each of the presentations of the committee. Robert F. Gonzales, Chairman. TTRAVEL This committee helps Aggies gain a more complete education through travel. Detailed information on scholarships, loans, home invitation and jobs in other nations during each summer.
