Vernon L. Head. Pretty Linkster Hunted by Resort A&M’s Placement Office gets many unusual job offerings. Latest was from a resort hotel at Sea Island, Ga. The position requires “poise and tact, knowledge of golf and interest in sports, interest in meeting many people, someone good at mingling with strangers, making up golf and tennis matches, running weekly putting, chip ’n putt and tennis tourna ments.” Also, the notice reads, “The at tractive young lady with an out going personality . . . will assist as hostess at all hotel functions, cocktail parties, balls, etc.” A&M Placement Office Direc tor Wendell Horsley believes Ag gies have wedding rings on most of the young ladies filling the hotel’s specifications. The professor of aerospace studies said assignments include Lt. Col. Glendon P. Jones from Randolph AFB; Maj. Thomas W. Comstock, Heidelberg, Germany; Maj. Charles W. Haney, Nha Trang, Vietnam; Maj. Harry H. Wandry Jr., Brindisi, Italy; Capt. Jon L. Gallop, Bien Hoa Air Base, Vietnam, and Capt. Eric E. Miller, Vietnam. All six AFROTC Detachment 805 officers are native Texans and three are A&M graduates. Colonel Jones, 45, was assigned in the detachment previously and received his bachelor degree in education at A&M in 1947. The Latexo native’s masters was awarded in 1958. He is an as sistant professor and director of cadet corps training, with resi dence at 100 Francis. native was commissioned at Waco in 1954 and has been in the Air Force since. The Haneys, of 207 A 1952 graduate in industrial engineering, Major Comstock has 15 years service with duty in Japan and Germany. He also attended Texas Tech and Texas. The major’s 14 years serv ice includes duty in Greenland, Germany, Italy and Greece. The 36-year-old officer from Fort Worth has four daughters. Captain Gallop, 27, has five years in the Air Force. He was commissioned from OTS in 1962 and was at Bien Hoa the last year. The assistant professor has an industrial arts degree from North Texas State and was born in Big Spring. The family, in cluding a son and daughter, re side at 1314 Timm. After A&M graduation and commencement in 1954, Captain Miller coached and taught at Rosebud two years. His military career began in 1956 and includes 3,500 hours flying time in the T-33 and T-38 trainers, A-1E Skyraider and air control craft.
