She regularly attends Southwest Texas at Georgetown. u Teaching Inst- BeginsAtA&M Elementary teachers of educa tionally-deprived children will study advanced methods and the psychology of human develop ment with lab work in the Bryan schools Headstart summer session in a Title I institute at Texas A&M. The July 18-Aug| 23 institute is offered for area elementary teachers through the Education and Psychology Department. Director Dr. Walter A. Varvel stressed the limited enrollment institute centers on reading and provides special training in the use of audio-visual materials for teaching reading. “In cooperating with the Bryan school system, the institute will favor laboratory work, through the Headstart program and remedial reading programs,” he added. Participants receive six semes ter hours graduate credit in the institute. At an office party President Earl Rudder, Auxiliary Services Director Howard Vestal, Fred W. Dollar, food service director, and Mrs. Hines’ co-workers recog nized her 25-year service. A Teague High School gradu ate who studied bookkeeping at East Texas Baptist College in Marshal, ~she joined the depart ment April 1, 1942. She was a bookkeeper for Lone Star Gas at Teague and Bryan and worked in the Brazos County Tax Col lector’s office under Guy Harris and J. E. Tatum four years. “Your zeal for accuracy and timeliness have been the subject of numerous compliments by per sonnel in other universtiy depart ments,” Dollar commended. Mrs. Hines, office manager until three years ago, supervises a five-person statistical account ing operation and has handled total food accounts for Sbisa and Duncan dining halls, the Memo rial Student Center, Research Annex and A&M Adjunct at Junction.
