The Aggies will play the first game at 2:30 p.m. Friday and follow up with another 2:30 game Saturday. Rocky Thompson is the probable starter in the Friday game, with Saturday’s pitching choice still up in the air. A good choice might be Pat Rozypal who finished up the last three innings of Tuesday’s game with Texas Tech. Rozypal hadn’t pitched since high school, but didn’t give up a hit. The Aggies will play in Houston again Monday with the Houston Cougars furnishing the opposition. This is a make-up of a rained-out game March 20. The Aggies will then come home to meet the Cougars again Wednesday afternoon at Travis Park. Looking around on other Aggie sport fronts: A nationwide television game with Southern Methodist looks more and more like a reality, as the American Broad casting Company presented its fall schedule to the NCAA television committee Wednesday. The schedule includes the A&M-SMU game as ABC’s first telecast Sept. 16. The procedure for approval by the NCAA is usually routine, so final word should be forthcoming soon. Speaking of the Aggies’ football season, there will be four home games this year. The Florida State Seminoles will be at College Station for a night game Oct. 7. It will be the first time the Ag gies have faced the Florida team. The Seminoles were 6-4 last season and lost to Wyoming 28-20 in the Gator Bowl. Baylor will be here Oct. 28 and the final home game will be the “Turkey Day” classic with the Longhorns. Besides other games with SWC opponents, the Aggies will meet Purdue for the first in a night game at the Cotton Bowl Sept. 23. The other non-league game will be a Sept. 30 meeting with Louisiana State. There was some good news from Aggie Basketball Coach Shelby Metcalf Tuesday. He announced the sign ing of Harry Bostic, a standout for Tyler JC the past two years. Bostic, a native of Indiana, is 6-6Y2 an d will be eligible to play next season. He enrolled at Tyler after a two- year stint in the army and scored 1,673 points in his two seasons. During that time, Tyler compiled a 59-16 record. By JERRY GRISHAM The Aggie Fish reached the half-way point in their baseball season Wednesday as they blanked the Wharton Junior Col lege Pioneers, 3-0, at Travis Park. AFTER a slow start in which they lost their first three games, the Fish have now won three in a row. Winning pitcher for the Aggies Wednesday was Danny Hayes, who went the route and allowed the visiting Pioneers only five hits. The losing pitcher, Triny Rivera, gave up only seven hits, but it was not the hitters who crossed the plate for the Aggies. Two of the runs got on base on walks and the third reached first on an error. The Fish scored their first run in the fourth inning. Marvin Hoelting went to first on a walk. A ground-out to the pitcher by Mike Strauss moved Hoelting to second and a well-placed single by Sam Torn brought Hoelting home. RON FOUST started the sixth inning for the Aggies as he was safe on first because of an error by the Wharton shortstop. Hoelt ing sacrificed to move Foust down to second base. Larry Stel- ley then belted a double to left field and Foust crossed the plate standing up. The final run for the Fish came in the bottom of the eighth. Hoelting again trotted down to first on a base on balls. A long single by Stelley and a ground out to the second base- man by Torn pushed Hoelting across for the run. THE FISH played errorless ball, while the Pioneers made only one miscue. Both pitchers were equal in the strikeout de partment, with three apiece. Next action for the Fish comes Saturday when they host the Rice Owlets at 2 p.m. year at Houston, the Fish clob- In their previous meeting ihis bered Rice, 12-2. It's EASY!
