Corpus Aggies May Apply For Theater Tour Dr. John Q. Hays, English pro fessor, will accept applications through April 15 for a July 6- Aug. 12 summer theater tour in France and London. The W o r 1 d’s Crossroads of Learning Inc., college credit course tour will fly from New York City to Paris for three days then journey to London for the rest of the five weeks to observe theater and theatrical training centers. “The purpose of the tour is to enrich the college student’s un derstanding of other countries and cultures, by supplementing his regular college courses with a well-directed study program abroad,” Dr. Hays said. HE IS THE local director for the summer tour arranged as a five-credit hour course through Rutgers University. “The tour can be taken as an undergraduate or graduate credit course, with the student register ing through Rutgers,” Hays ex plained. “The five hours can then be transferred from Rutgers to his own school.” Though primarily designed as a college program, the tour can be taken by others interested in gaining insights to French and English plays, ballet, British theater, television and movie pro duction, he said. “The tour doesn’t have to be taken as a college credit course,” Hays continued. STUDENTS WILL study in 20 lessons a French play at the Comedie Francais, British plays produced at London and Stratford from pre-Shakespearean through modern drama and playwright- producer techniques, actor’s training, stage design and theater related-arts. “Students will have opportunity to talk with actors and directors of current stage productions, en joy ballet and see British TV pro grams and motion pictures being made,” the professor added. Minimum cost of the tour in cluding air transportation, lodg ing at the University of Surrey, board, tips, excursions and thea ter tickets will be $950. Regis tration for the course through Rutgers will cost an additional $80. Student requirements include good academic standing, char acter recommendations and “mo bility, because moving from place to place will be required,” the 1965 Fulbright Professor said. Further information may be ob tained by contacting Dr. Hays at 301-A Academic Building or phon ing 846-4210. Mrs. Roby Plans Houston Speech “Side-tracking Dilemma With Public Relations” will be discuss ed by Mrs. Lorene Roby, presi dent of the Lone Star chapter, National School Public Relations Association, at the Small School Administrators meeting in Hous ton Friday. “This meeting is designed to help administrators with one very critical problem,” Mrs. Roby said, “that of continuing the programs and services that have been add ed when federal funds are de creased or eliminated.” “The challenge is to move for ward with these added services, by selling them to our communi ties and sidetracking dilemma.” lation l — BATTALION CLASSIFIED — THE BATTALION Thursday, March 2, 1967 College Station, Texas Page 3 BIRD JUMPER Balmy spring-like weather brings out the best in most people and in Florida such weather is prevalent.
