Page 2 THE BATTALION College Station, Texas Tuesday, January 17, 1967 Teasips Too Much For ‘Good Sports’ At the Texas vs. Texas Tech game, the University of Texas was presented with the Southwest Conference Sports manship Trophy Saturday. The game was broadcast on regional television. Head football coach, Darrell Royal ac cepted the award on behalf of “the University.” As we understand it, the trophy is given to the school which exhibits the best sportsmanship during the previous basketball and football seasons. At a December meeting of the Southwest Conference schools in Dallas, the Univer sity of Texas was selected. The representatives from the Conference schools who voted the award must have done a great deal of soul searching Saturday. From the behavior of the Texas students at the Tech game, no one could have guessed that their school had just received the Sportsmanship Award. The behavior of the stu dent body was deplorable and everything but sportsmanlike. The students booed when Tech pulled ahead. They booed when Tech controlled the ball. The “Raiders” had no quiet at the free throw line. Yet when the “Steers” went to the line, the U of T students were quiet as a “wake.” It is indeed unfortunate that the award was made on television. The Texas student body surely showed its tele vision audience how they came to be named this year's South west Conference “good sports.” — Lee Moreno 13 AGGIES (Continued From Page 1) which holds an infrared-type thermometer.” “As the ship travels in its path, the surfaces temperatures can be Freeman To Lead Weather Seminar “I’m sure lookin' forward to deadweek when there’s no quizzes or outside assignments so I can really study for finals!” Dr. John C.
