Colonel Fred Dollar, food serv ices director, explained why. “Several new cafeteria lines are planned for Sbisa Dining Hall this next year,” he began. “We are not sure, however, that there will be adequate funds to com plete the project.” The Food Services Dept, is a non-profit organization. Any profit, as such, goes back into the operation into expansion and im provement. The department, how ever, makes much less than a commercial restaurant of any kind. “If we were a profit-making company, we could make the im provements. Our net gains are supplied largely by board fees. We have never been a profit-mak ing organization, since net ^ain is returned to the students in in creased service.” The food department in the Memorial Student Center is also under the direction of the Food Services Dept. The MSC rents out the areas used by the depart ment and this increases the de partment’s overhead. Without the extra operating ex penses of the fountain room and cafeteria, the department would have additional capital with which to expand its mess hall service. “Our objective is service, rather than net gain which is the objec tive of any commercial restau rant,” Dollar added. “We pay rent at the MSC in order to serve the students. As far as I can determine, we are the lowest priced, all male food service, feeding a balanced diet, in the U.S.” AIEE Applications Deadine Set AIIE, industrial engineering fraternity, will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Prospective members are in vited to attend the meeting in Room 207 of the Engineering Building. MR.BIG Take heart. Take a dime. Then take a bottle of Sprite from the nearest pop machine. Suddenly it's in your hand. Cold. Biting. Tart and tingling. You cackle fiendishly and rub your hands^ together. (You should; they're probably chilled to the bone by now.) You tear off to a corner, alone, but within earshot of your fellows. And then? And then? And then you unleash it. SPRITE! It fizzes! It roars! It bubbles with good cheer! Heads turn. Whisperings.
