THE BATTALION College Station, Texas Page 4 Thursday, July 28, 1966 A&M Cadets Capture 6 Top Honors Texas A&M cadets captured six honors during initial summer Air Force ROTC camps at Altus, Little Rock and Mountain Home Air Force Bases. Wayne B. Fudge of Burkbur- nett, senior accounting major, received the Air Force Times Award at Mountain Home AFB, Colo. Lt. Col. Longen F. War ren, AFROTC field training com mander, announced the award. Four Air Force cadets trained at Altus AFB, Okla., won top honors in their flights and Noble C. Wyninegar Jr. of San Antonio won the Commander’s Award as the best cadet in the 200 - man unit. Vice commander’s awards went to David J. Cruz of Somerset, William C. Haseloff of Vernon and Jerry Don Stevens of Happy. Dennis N. Hohman of San An tonio was named best of 24 ca dets in his flight at Little Rock AFB, Jacksonville, Ark., for the vice commander’s award. Fudge, Student Senate presi dent and son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McLean, Burkburnett, exem plified leadership and morale traits to win the Times award. “You proved yourself the cali ber of young man the Air Force needs in its officer corps,” War ren said in making the award. Wyninegar, senior history ma jor, is son of Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Wyninegar, 335 Rainbow Drive, San Antonio, and a graduate of MacArthur High. He is a mem ber of Squadron 13 in A&M’s Corps of Cadets. Stevens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford S. Stevens, Route 1, Happy is in Squadron 5 and served on Great Issues, Town Hall and Student Conference on National Affairs staffs. The senior is a management major. Son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Haseloff Sr., Route 3, Vernon, Haseloff serves on the Second Wing Staff in the Corps. He graduated from Lockett High in Vernon and majors in agricul tural economics. Cruz was first sergeant of Squadron 6 last year and majors in agricultural economics. The son of Mrs. Josie Martinez, Box 13, Somerset, is member of sev eral student clubs, best drilled sophomore, a Ross Volunteer and holds an Air Force scholarship. A distinguished student, Hoh man is a math major and in Squadron 1. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alois J. Hohman Sr., 115 Dawnridge, San Antonio, and a Central Catholic High gradu ate. College Station LL Wins Zone Title; To Play In Waco American Little League South all-stars shoot for a district championship in Waco Saturday, on the strength of two wins for the zone crown. College Station Little Leaguers defeated H e a r n e and National West to gain the district playoff spot. Site and time of the Waco game will be announced. South stacked eight runs in the fourth inning to take out West, 8-3, in the zone championship game. Ricky Schleider allowed West one run after relieving Robert Carroll in the second in ning. The big inning for Manager C. B. Ryan’s and Coach Bill Al- lio’s team featured three home runs. Robert Hawkins socked a two-run homer to put South on the scoreboard. Leo Magers tied the score with a solo blast back- to-back with Hawkins’. Ricky Fowler thumped a grand slam home run to complete scoring. Police School Set For North Texas A North Texas Area Police School is scheduled Monday through Aug. 26 at Arlington State College by Texas A&M’s Police Training Division. Wallace Beasley, chief of po lice training for A&M’s Engi- fleering Extension Service, noted officers from most Tarrant County cities will participate. Beasley said course content in cludes police responsibility and duties, public relations, patrol methods, tactics, laws of evidence and case preparation, criminal law, investigation, preservation of evidence, traffic control and law, accident investigation and juvenile coi^., ; Classes meet'from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. each week in ASC’s Stu dent Center.
