Following four years engineer ing with Transcontinental Gas Pipeline of Houston, Jenkins went with Schlumberger at LaPorte in 1962. Seven years work with the latter two firms included com pressor station construction, pipe line design, probe calculations and customer liaison. He resid ed in Houston four years. The Jenkins moved to Bryan in December 1965, where the new A&M staff member was a partner in Skrabanek Home Building and Realty. He served three years in the Navy in the early ’50s, attaining petty officer grade as a drafts man in the Seabees. OakRidge Chemist To Visit Campus Senior chemist Dr. John E. Noakes of the Oak Ridge Insti tute for Nuclear Studies will visit Texas A&M’s Department of Oceanography Saturday and par ticipate in an eight-day cruise of the Alaminos. The A&M graduate, who took his Ph.D. in oceanography in 1962, will be on the campus five days. An informal seminar will be held for him at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the department, announced Dr. Edward Ibert. The Alaminos cruise which Noakes and research chemist Stephen Kim will accompany has a course plotted to the Straits of Yucatan, between Cuba and Mex ico, returning toward the mouth of the Mississippi and then to Galveston. The chemical ocean ography cruise departs Galves ton July 21. Noakes’ primary research in terests are carbon 14 dating and the chemistry of uranium and thorium in the sea.
