Thornton, grounds maintenance superintendent, said friends of the trio are invited to come by the department’s head quarters in Hensel Park between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. for coffee and cake. Retiring March 31 are: James E. Hurt, a 31-year em ploye. Hurt, assistant superin tendent of roads and pavement, started at A&M as a laborer and helped plant many of the live oak trees on campus. He plans to mix part-time employment at A&M with lots of fishing. Hurt and his wife live South of College Station. Landscape Gardener Paul Cas tillo has 21 year’s service. He and his wife live at 1113 Ravine, Bryan. Fidel Alonzo, also a landscape gardener, is a 20-year employe. A bachelor, he lives at 1206 Lucky, Bryan. Classical music and reading are his hobbies. Journal Features Aerospace Course Texas A&M’s aerospace vehicle design course is explained in this month’s issue of “The Journal of Engineering Education.” A&M aerospace engineers A. E. Cronk and Charles A. Roden- berger wrote the article in the American Society of Engineering Education publication. The article by the Department of Aerospace Engineering head and professor describes how stu dents work as groups to write vehicle design proposals. Aero space Engineering 401 introduces students to the engineering-team environment. Texas Wildlife Society Meeting To Open Friday “Introduction and Spread of Exotic Game Species in Texas” will be one of the main topics of discussion at the first annual con ference of the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society here Friday and Saturday. The discussion will include na tive game in Texas before white man, introduction of mammalian and bird exotics, management, health and quarantine aspects and biological and environmental problems. The other major discussion area will be “Activities of Agen cies Serving the Wildlife Profes sion.” This will include the For est Service, Soil Conservation Service, university and Extension Services, Fish and Wildlife Serv ice and the Parks and Wildlife Department of Texas. Dr. James G. Teer, A&M assist ant professor of wildlife science, said the meeting will be held in tl/e Ramada Inn in College Sta tion. I Scientists will also present their studies on white-tail deer feeding and drinking habits, deer- livestock relationships, squirrel stomach studies and population and control of nutria. Other subjects are parallels of fisheries and game management, wild turkey relationships, hob- white quail parasitism, grackle predation on whitewing doves and the red wolf-coyote problem.
