Barnes To Address Geological Society Dr. Virgil E. Barnes will speak to the Geological Society on Tex tiles, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 105 of the Geology Build ing. Barnes is a professor at the University of Texas, Associate Director of the Texas Bureau of Economic Geology and Director of Research of Textiles. He has written many articles and books published by the Bureau of Eco nomic Geology. SDX Chapter Offers Journalism Grants Four $250 scholarships for high school graduates and a $200 scholarship for a junior college graduate have been announced by the Texas A&M Chapter of Sig ma Delta Chi. Chapter President Glenn Drom- goole said the professional jour nalistic society will base its choices on students’ character, school records, desire to study journalism, and financial need. Applications have been sent to all high schools and junior colleges in Texas. They must be returned by April 15. Win ners will be announced May 1. Cricket Team Plans Mexican Matches Cricket goes international dur ing the Easter holidays, when the first cricket match between a Texas and Mexican team will be played. The A&M Cricket Club will travel to Mexico City for a cou ple of matches with the Reforma Sports Club team, John Grif fiths of the Department of Meteorology said. The Englishman believes the Easter matches will be the first between Texas and Mexico teams. About 18 or 19 players, their wives and friends will make the April 7-11 jaunt by bus. A&M’s team consists primarily of students from India. A. D. H. Clague, chemistry graduate stu dent from England, is team cap tain. Griffiths is club president and team coach.
