The Fish and Cubs battle it out at 11:45 The Bears are one of the bevy of teams in second place in the SWC with a 2-1 record, and have a 4-8 mark for the season. They come into the Aggie game fresh from an 89-74 trouncing of the Longhorns in Gregory Gym and an 89-75 victory over TCU. Their lone SWC defeat was at the hands of the Techmen, 115-77. Saturday’s 2 p.m. game will not only be viewed by those around the court, but by a state wide audience via television. Both crowds will also witness the half time presentation to Randy Mat- son of SPORT magazine’s award for the outstanding athlete in track and field for 1965. The Aggies have, in close games, defeated SMU, Rice and Arkansas, and are building up a momentum described by some as reminiscent of the champion ship 1964 squad. The big leader in these games has been big John Beasley. He now leads SWC scoring with a 26.7 point average for conference play with a high of 29 against the Hogs last Tuesday. Following him in the scoring column is Dick Stringfellow and Terry Trippet, both with 12.7 averages, and Dick Rector with an 11 point aveage. Rector also has the highest percentage from the field, 60.9. In the rebounding statistics, it’s still Big John. The Beez has grabbed 42 in the last three games for a 14 rebound average, while Matson has nabbed 30 for an even 10 per game. One of the biggest guns for the Bears is Darrell Hardy, a 6-7, 200-pound forward who was consensus all-conference last year as a sophomore and sports a 22- point average so far this season. He also leads the team in re bounds with 16.7 a game. The Baptists have another lad with a 22 point average. He’s Jim Turner, a ‘mere’ 6-2 and 170 pounds, but has hit a high in the young season of 27 points. Likely to be the difference in this game, as in all the others, is the rebounding situation. With the board-controlling twins of Beasley and Matson, the Ags hold the edge over Baylor, 152-143. - OPEN YOUR ACCOUNT NOW 4 Vi?
