THE BATTALION Page 4 College Station, Texas Wednesday, December 8, 1965 ... More Letters (Continued from Page 3) sent the wishes and dislikes of his class. He is the mouthpiece of the fish class to the administra tion and the other three classes. Because of my mobile life I have become somewhat adept at meet ing and understanding people. ATTENTION!!! ALL CLUBS Athletic, Hometown, Professional, and Campus Organizations. Pictures for the club sec tions of the Aggieland are now being scheduled at the Student Publications Of fice, Y.M.C.A. Bldg. This is a prime prerequisite for a good representative. He must understand and know the will of the people he is representing. In conclusion I would very much appreciate the vote of my fish buddies and will strive, if I am elected, to make the great Class of '69 the best class this University has seen or will ever see. In high school, I was elected vice president of our student council and held offices in debate club, Latin Club, band, and National Honor Society. I had the honor of serving as president of the Episcopal Young Church men of the Diocese of Texas, and I also attended Boys State. In scouting, I have attained the rank of Eagle and have held the of fices of junior assistant Scout master, president of my air squadron, and Explorer district secretary. Here at A&M I posted a 2.24 GPR at mid-semester and have been trying to live up to the Ag gie traditions. If my fish bud dies see fit to vote for me, I can promise them above all, loyal and outspoken representation on the Student Senate. I promise that as fish representative I will always convey and stand up for the wishes and beliefs of the freshman class. Fish, come out and vote Thurs day and remember to cast a vote my Way for solid representation. William R. Howell, Jr. * * * * Editor, The Battalion: I am seeking one of the four positions in the Student Senate from the Freshmen class. I grad uated from Jones High School in Houston and I’m majoring in gov ernment. I participated in stu dent government in high school and in the South Texas National Forensic League Congresses. If I am elected to the Senate, I will try to act as a voice of the Fresh man Class in the Senate. David Howard * * * * Editor, The Battalion: Because most of the fish do not know anything about the candi dates who are running for their class officers and representatives, I would like to acquaint you with some of the qualifications of a fish buddy who is running for representative to the Student Senate. Pat O’Rielly was very active in his high school of 1,100 students and gained much valuable experi ence which qualifies him for the Student Senate. He served on his own high school student council for three years; his senior year as a representative at large. He was very active on the council, heading several committees his senior year, including the bonfire committee and others. He was president of his senior class of 285 and led the class to a very successful year. Because of his many activities, hard work, and superior leadership ability, he was given a leadership award by his high school student body. He lettered four years in varsity baseball and one year in football. His senior year, he was elected the captain of his baseball team and president of his high school Lettermen’s Club. Pat is aggressive and a very hard worker as is shown by his past accomplishments. But he is not relying on his past for his election. He believes the Class of '69 can best be represented by active and interested students and, if elected, he is determined to serve actively and in the best interest of the class at all times. He very sincerely solicits the ad vice and opinions of every fish on any matter and he will do every thing in his power to present your ideas and complaints to the Stu dent Senate. Pat, as a member of the Corps and the Fish Drill Team, is well aware of the many problems and complaints that most fish have. I am sure that if you elect him as your representative to the Stu dent Senate, you will find that his experience and desire will make him the best representative our class can have. Jerry Northcutt ’69 * * * * Editor, The Battalion: Thanks for the opportunity to announce my filing for fresh man class office. I’m running for pre-vet representative to the Student Senate. I would like to urge all my fish buddies to vote in this election, and I would wel come a vote for myself. This is the biggest turnout for filing in several years, and it would be very disappointing if there were more candidates than voters. Make the fish Class of ’69 the best ever by electing fish offic ers that represent the whole fish class. Tim W. Davis * * * * Editor, The Battalion: I would like to publicly an nounce my candidacy for the post of freshman pre-vet representa tive to the Student Senate. One of the drawbacks of fresh man elections is a lack of know ledge about the candidates on the part of the electorate. To help alloy this handicap, I would like to state my qualifications. I am in Company B-l Vets. I was graduated from Saint Louis University High School, in Saint Louis, with second honors. I was president of the science club and a National Merit finalist. If elected, I hope to champion the needs and preferences of my fellow preparatory veterinary medicine majors. Joe Hely * * * * Editor, The Battalion: I hereby announce my candi dacy for a position on the Elec tion Commission. My qualifications are as fol lows: Ranked fifth in graduat ing class of 98 with an overall average of 94; Experienced in formal election procedures; A promise of hard and zealous work as a member of the Elec tion Commission to efficiently handle YOUR elections in the highest possible degree of excel lence; And most important, a burning desire to make A&M better than ever! I will apprecite your votes and support in the coming elections. Gary (Jerry) L. Davis * * * * Editor, The Battalion: Pat Harris is my name, I’m from Dayton, Texas, and I am taking architecture. This is to announce my candidacy for elec tion commissioner in the election Thursday. As a freshman all that I have to offer in the way of qualifica tions in high school. At Dayton High School in my senior year, I lettered in football, baseball and track, won two district champion ships in the UIC Scholastic Meet, served as student council presi dent, national honor society pres ident, class secretary and was given the American Legion Citi zenship Award. My first taste of A&M was at Junction where I posted a 3.5 grade point ratio. iM!y mid-se mester average was 2.12. This election Is awfully import ant to the Class of ’69. I’m not going to say ‘Vote for me.’ Per sonally, I feel that I’m qualified, but the important thing is that all of us fish get together and vote.
