Page 4 College Station, Texas Friday, November 12, 1965 THE BATTALION Fish To Tackle Picadors In Sweetwater Saturday The Aggie Fish go the long route Saturday in search of the elusive victory. Seeking to break the win column for the first time this season, the Fish trek 400 miles to the west for a night contest with the Texas Tech Picadors. After home losses to TCU and Baylor and a 9-7 defeat at the hands of the Rice Owlets in Houston last week, the Fish would travel to Afganistan for an opportunity to make something happen. Not going quite that far, the Fish journey to the neu tral site of Sweetwater, chosen as a central point between Ag- gieland and Lubbock. The Picadors -jet down also seeking their initial win, after a 21-9 loss to the Owlets two weeks ago hiked their season mark 0-2. With an eye to the future, Helms takes a long look at his entire squad, instead of going with one unit. After the 7:30 p.m. clash, the Fish spend Saturday night in Sweetwater, and start back Sun day morning. Main 822-6000 Tigers Close With Conroe A & M Consolidatetd High School closes out its 1965 season here Friday night against Con roe. The Tigers carry a 3-6 record into the game but could salvage an otherwise drab year by knock, ing off the district-leading Con roe eleven. The Tigers have scored vic tories over Caldwell, Navasota and Heame while losing to Beau mont, Houston Lanier, Honston Furr, Brenham, Cypress-Fair- banks and Huntsville. “Our team lacks size and speed but our boys give 100% effort and stay in their all the way,” said head coach Edsel Jones. Jones said that the main de fense is a wide tackle six, com monly called a six-two-three. The offensive setup consists of an un balanced line with a split end and the backfield in an “I” for mation. A-l Captures Grid Title By Downing Squadron 11 The freshmen of Company A-l clinched the Corps Championship in intramural football Thursday, beating Equadron 11 28-6. Bill Seely of A-l connected on a 50-yard touchdown pass to Lester Reinecker for the first score. Seely, who played as quarterback for Brownwood his senior year in high school, car ried around right end for the point after. An interception of a Squadron 11 pass set up the second score for A-l. The A-l Fish widened their lead with a 35-yard touchdown run by Seely. A pass to Clay Morgan made the score 14-0 at halftime. Seely again broke open early in the second half for another touchdown run. A pass play to Reinecker made the score 21-0. Once again an interception by A-l stopped a Squadron 11 drive. Two plays later Seely uncorked a pass to Reinecker, who outran defenders for a 40-yard touch down play. The rainy, muddy field slowed things down considerably for both sides, but the A-l Fish managed to stay on top through out the entire game. There were contingents from both units present, cheering on their favorites. With the remaining time and the muddy field working against them, Squadron ll’s Fish settled down for a comeback. David McCormick returned the kickoff 30 yards to start their lone touchdown drive. McCormick rolled left, foimj an opening, and slipped through going 30 yards for the score However the conversion attemp: failed. Sandy Koufax won 11 straigtt games for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1965. Charles E. Thomas ’64 College Master Representative Fidelity Union Life 846-8228 Hurricane Betsy Merchandise 403 N.
