A 1964 graduate of A&M, John W. Henley of San Angelo has been cited for heroism by the United States Army. First Lt. Henley, officer in charge of the U. S. Army Veteri nary Food Inspection Detachment in Sacramento, Calif., received a certificate of achievement for res cuing two men from Folsom Lake in California. While boating on Folsom Lake Oct. 16, 1964, Lt. Henley noticed a capsized boat and two men in the water. He rescued them after both had sunk beneath the surface. With the help of a companion, Henley applied artificial respira tion for an hour until an ambu lance arrived to take the men to a hospital. Lt. Henley is also a graduate of the U. S. Faith, Life Series Presents Last Program The third and final presentation of the “Faith and Life Series” for this academic year will be present ed under the auspices of Campus Religious Workers’ Association, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the All Faiths Chapel. The program will feature Dr. Gustave A-. FSrre, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy at TCU. He will be speaking on the topic of God as creator under the title “Maker of Heaven and Earth.” Ferre comes from a noted theo logical family. Ferre has spoken on many cam puses, written for various profes sional periodicals, and authored two books, “A Layman Examines His Faith” and “Basic Philosophi cal Issues.” He was educated at Boston University (AB), Andover Newton Theological School (BD), Yale Divinity School, and Vander bilt University (Ph.D.). He has taught at Vanderbilt U.; Cotner School of Religion, Univer sity of Nebraska; and Texas Chris tian University. They heat duos from the Univer sity of Southwestern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin and Pan Ameri can College. They lost to Texas Lutheran College and University of Texas debaters. The Aggie debate team competes March 5 and 6 at Southeastern State College in Durant, Okla., Coach Carl Kell said. Constable’s Institute An enrollment of 20 is antici pated for the Justice of the Peace and Constables Institute March 22- 26. The 40-hour school will be taught by the Police Training Di vision of the Engineering Exten sion Service. It is sponsored by the Texas Law Enforcement Foun dation and the Justice of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas. Some of the topics include court room procedure, rights of the ac cused, the trial, court costs, con ducting inquests, public relations and liability of constables. Classes will be held in the Me morial Student Center. Statistics Seminar An Institute of Statistics semi nar will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday by graduate student L. J. Ringer, the first seminar to be presented by an institute graduate student, Dr. H. O. Hartley, insti tute director, announced. The sem inar will be held in Room 115 Ani mal Industries Building. “Exponential Smoothing” is the seminar topic. Ringer will discuss basic exponential smoothing con cepts and introduce the concept of industrial manufacturing control via this means. Industrial Arts More than 500 teachers and others concerned with industrial arts programs in schools are ex pected here Friday and Saturday for the largest meeting of its kind in the Southwest. The Industrial Teacher Confer ence and the tenth annual Indus trial Arts Conference are spon sored jointly by the Texas Indus trial Arts Association and the In dustrial Education Department. Frank Miller of the Snyder schools is president of the association and Dr. Chris H. Groneman heads the A&M department.
