The Junior Museum of Natural History on the third floor of the Brazos County Courthouse is new open to the general public on Sat urdays. Mrs. C. W. Simmons, vice chair man said, ’’The museum will re main open each Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with guided tours being conducted for the general public.” Last Saturday was the first such open date. The museum first opened May 26, 1962. For the past two years, tours of the exhibits have been con ducted by appointment only. Most of the appointments have been made by high schood and grade school classes, primarily science classes. Plans to keep the museum open on one of the weekdays are being given great consideration. The museum is a completely voluntary organization, with all personnel voluntering their serv ices. “One of the greatest problems facing the museum is enough help to run the museum and to act as guides,” Mrs. Simmons said. Another need is a man who has the time and is willing to act as chairman of the organization and push the program, she added. Much help and support has been given the museum by the super- inntendent of Bryan Public Schools and the B-CS Chamber of Com merce, as well as other citizens and organizations of the city, she said.
