have another chance at Baylor’s
shot put twins, Jim Lancaster and
Frank Mazza. All three men have
beaten each other at least once
this spring. Roberts won the Bor

the Texas Relays.

The old yeller moon gets a
chance to watch the Aggie nine in
Southwest Conference baseball ac
tion Friday night. Game time is
7:30 p.m. as the Cadets host the
Texas Christian Horned Frogs in
Bryan’s Travis Park.
THE LAST TIME the moon sat
in on a game, the Cadets trounced
Texas Tech 12-2 so the Ags would
like to give the night light an en
core against the Frogs.
Tom Chandler’s crew donated an
earlier contest to TCU in Fort
Worth. A&M committed six errors
while dropping a 14-7 decision.
THE MAROON ARE one-half
game behind co-leaders Baylor
and Texas in the SWC race. The
Aggies are 3-2 in league play and
9-5 for the season. TCU stands
2-2.
Chuck McGuire gets the call for
opening mound duty. TCU Coach
Frank Windegger will probably go
with Pat Peebles.
TCU WILL lineup with Bob San
ders, rf; Fred Jones, c; Jay Wal-
rath, If; Ronnie McClain, 3b; Bob
Bigley, cf; Sammy Reynolds, lb;
Mike Justice, 2b; J. W. Holt, ss;
and Peebles, p.
A&M, on a three-game w i n
skein, will counter with Jerry Bal
lard, ss; Bill Grochett, 2b; Billy
Crain, rf; Allen Koonce, If; Bill
Hancock, c; Lance Cobb, cf; Frank
Stark, lb; George Hargett, 3b;
and McGuire, p.
THE TWO TEAMS meet again
Saturday in Travis Park. Game
time will be 2 p.m.
The Cadets are swinging lusty
bats with seven players hitting
over .300 after five SWC games.
Cobb is leading the regulars with
a great .556. The sophomore cen-
terfielder also shows the most
total bases with 20 and RBI’s with
5. Of his. 10 hits, four have been
doubles and two were home runs.
Hargett, Stark and Koonce are
hitting an even .500 with Hancock
at .444.
Soph lefty Steve Hillhouse
sports the best earned run aver
age with 0.90. John Crain is un
defeated with three wins.
One of the strongest freshman
cinder teams in the Southwest
Conference, the Aggie Fish, will
head for West Texas for a tri
angle meet with the Abilene Chris
tian College freshmen and How
ard County Junior College Satur
day.
After an impressive win over
Rice and Texas in a previous tri
meet, by a score of 75 for A&M
to 40% for Texas and 37% for
Rice, and a commendable showing
at the Texas Relays, the Fish will
be after another victory.
Aggie entries for the Abilene
encounter are:
100-yard-dash — James White,
Buster Mason and Don Price; 220-

Randel Juge; pole vault — Earl
Edwards and Joe Moseley; high
jump — Mike Schrider, Stephen
Holtz and Juge; broad jump —

Matson will be aiming at an
other state shot put record and
will try to better his last week’s
toss of 62-11% which he made at
the Texas Relays. Schrider will
also attempt to better the winning
6-6 % effort he made at the Texas
Relays, also.
Aggie Netters Host
TT, Pan American
A&M’s tennis team will stay
home this weekend as they host
Texas Tech in a Friday match and
Pan American College Saturday
on the Aggie tennis courts. Both

Williams will wear the Aggie Ma
roon.
A&M lost its first conference
match with the Rice Owls, 5-1.
Coach Omar Smith’s net men car

The Tech Red Raiders will play
Don Draper of Houston, Beau
Sutherland of Kerrville, Robert
Peterson of Wichita Falls and
