Moonstruck Cadets Host TCU Friday Waco Site Of Varsity Meet A crippled Aggie track team will venture to Waco Saturday for a quadrangular meet with the Baylor Bears, Texas Ixmghoms and Southern Methodist Mustangs. Missing from action in the four way competition will be Jerry An derson, mile relay and 440-yard dash specialist, Pat Mitchell, sprinter and relay man, and sprint er Robert Martin. All three men are nursing pulled muscles and sore legs. Weight man Danny Roberts will have another chance at Baylor’s shot put twins, Jim Lancaster and Frank Mazza. All three men have beaten each other at least once this spring. Roberts won the Bor der Olympics in Laredo, Mazza the San Angelo Relays, and Lancaster the Texas Relays. SCHEDULED TO compete in the meet for the Aggies are: 100-yard dash — Richard Hall and Jim Tarr; 220-yard dash — Hall and Tarr; 440-yard dash — Ted Nelson, Jim Runge and Cecil Shilling; 880-yard dash — Gene Westmoreland, Earl Myers and John Duran; mile run — Bill Tur ney; and three-mile run — Ilhan Bilgutay. Mile relay — Shilling, Runge, Westmoreland and Nelson; 120- yard hurdles — John Collins and Don Kooser; 440-yard hurdles — Collins and Kooser; high jump — Collins and Cecil Wood; broad jump — Collins and Bob Brown; pole vault — Carl Richter and Frank Hurta. Game time is 7:30 p.m. as the Cadets host the Texas Christian Horned Frogs in Bryan’s Travis Park. THE LAST TIME the moon sat in on a game, the Cadets trounced Texas Tech 12-2 so the Ags would like to give the night light an en core against the Frogs. Tom Chandler’s crew donated an earlier contest to TCU in Fort Worth. A&M committed six errors while dropping a 14-7 decision. THE MAROON ARE one-half game behind co-leaders Baylor and Texas in the SWC race. The Aggies are 3-2 in league play and 9-5 for the season. TCU stands 2-2. Chuck McGuire gets the call for opening mound duty. TCU Coach Frank Windegger will probably go with Pat Peebles. Cobb is leading the regulars with a great .556. The sophomore cen- terfielder also shows the most total bases with 20 and RBI’s with 5. Of his. 10 hits, four have been doubles and two were home runs. Hargett, Stark and Koonce are hitting an even .500 with Hancock at .444. Soph lefty Steve Hillhouse sports the best earned run aver age with 0.90. John Crain is un defeated with three wins. One of the strongest freshman cinder teams in the Southwest Conference, the Aggie Fish, will head for West Texas for a tri angle meet with the Abilene Chris tian College freshmen and How ard County Junior College Satur day. After an impressive win over Rice and Texas in a previous tri meet, by a score of 75 for A&M to 40% for Texas and 37% for Rice, and a commendable showing at the Texas Relays, the Fish will be after another victory. Aggie Netters Host TT, Pan American A&M’s tennis team will stay home this weekend as they host Texas Tech in a Friday match and Pan American College Saturday on the Aggie tennis courts. Both matches begin at 2 p.m. Trying to get into the win col umn against Southwest Confer ence teams, Luis Rojas, Raul Con treras, Richard Barker and Ricky Williams will wear the Aggie Ma roon. A&M lost its first conference match with the Rice Owls, 5-1. Coach Omar Smith’s net men car ry a 7-4 season mark. The Tech Red Raiders will play Don Draper of Houston, Beau Sutherland of Kerrville, Robert Peterson of Wichita Falls and Greer Kothman of Junction. The Aggies will use the same lineup against Pan American and will feature Williams and Barker as the No. 1 combination while Contreras and Rojas make up the No. 2 combination for the Aggies.
