Page 6 College Station, Texas Thursday, December 19, 1963 THE BATTALION Aggies Head For Tourney; Play Oklahoma City Tonight After soundly thrashing the Sam Houston College basketball- ers, the Aggies head for the Hous ton Classic Tournament for cage engagements with Oklahoma City University and Mississippi State on Thursday and Friday nights. Following the Houston Classic, the team prepares for its invasion of the All College Tournament which will take place in Oklahoma City. Opening that tournament, the Aggies will be pitted against the University of Washington Huskie team. AFTER FOUR GAMES the Ag gie starting lineup comprises four newcomers with Bennie Lenox be ing the lone returning regular. Sophomores John Beasley, Tim Timmerman, and Dick Stringfel- low, and junior transfer student Bill Gasway round out the first team attack. Gasway is a product of Lon Morris. Lenox leads the scorers with 63 points and a 15.8 average, despite a two-point performance at Utah State. Center John Beasley is sec ond with 60 points and a 15.0 av erage. He ranks first in team re bounds, nabbing 35. TIMMERMAN HAS A 12 point average with 48 total points. His high game was against Utah State where he scored 18 points. String- fellow has dumped in 25 points for a 6.3 average. Gasway is second in rebounds with 33 and has tal lied 26 points for the young sea son. In the four cage battles the Ag gies have racked up 299 points for a game average of 74.8 while the opponents have garnered 313 markers, averaging 78.3 a game. The fine Utah teams have inflicted both Aggie losses while victories were established over the Univer sity of Houston and Sam Houston. Thus, in a festive mood the Ag gie cagers hit the trail for the holiday campaigns. Aggies living in Houston and Oklahoma are urged to get out and see the Ag gies in the holiday tilts. If you do decide to see a game, be sure to be extra careful going to and from the game.
