    Gains Starting Post
Waylon Ward, 6-3, 216, has moved up to the Hinze and Marvin Dawkins suffered injuries
first unit left tackle slot for the Arkansas against Baylor. Ward came to A&M without
game Saturday in Little Rock. Coach Hank a scholarship but made the team through
Foldberg made the change after Ray Gene hard work and agressiveness.

Favored In Weekend Games

Football predictors across the
country will have their work cut
out for them this weekend as a
great array of gridiron clashes
constitute the fall classic. From
Philadelphia, where the service
teams collide to the great battles
in the Midwest, the South and
Southwest, the stage will be set
for some of the most evenly
matched elevens to show their best.
So, on with the predictions . . .
ARKANSAS 26, A&M 7: The
Razorbacks get the Aggies in their
own backyard. If that isn’t enough,
add the fact that the Hogs are un
defeated through 18 games played
in November.
BAYLOR 22, TCU 12: Trull
and Elkins combine to blitz the
Frogs out of Waco.
TEXAS 26, SMU 6: Texas of
fensive machine continues to roll,
setting up a showdown with Bay
lor next weekend.
RICE 19, TEXAS TECH 7:
After a close defeat to Texas, the
Owls get back on the victory trail.
MISSISSIPPI 13, LSU 7: The
Johnny Rebs will edge past the
Bengal Tigers in this traditional

NEW YORK (A*)—The nation’s
major college football team de
fense leaders will have the oppor
tunity Saturday to prove they de
serve their status.
Four of the first five in total
defense in NCAA Service Bureau
statistics released Wednesday will
be up against stubborn opposition.
Only Princeton, second in team de
fense, has what is regarded as an
easy foe, Brown.
Mississippi puts its defense lead
on the line against Louisiana
State; Florida, third in defense,
faces Auburn, one of four unbeat
en, untied major teams; Michigan
State, fourth defensively, plays
defending Big Ten champion Wis
consin, 11th in total offense, and
Army, fifth in defense, meets the
Air Force, 10th in total offense.
Mississippi also is the leader in
Stingiest

rushing defense and tied with
Princeton in defense against scor
ing, each having allowed 20 points
in five games. North Carolina is
tops in forward pass defense and
Southern Methodist continues as
the punting leader.
North Carolina has yielded only
an average of 45.2 yards a game
to enemy passers. Southern Meth
odist’s punting average is 44.7
yards.
Mississippi has allowed less than
two yards a carry to opposition
rushers.
Ohio University has proven the
toughest defender against pass
completions, having limited the op
position to a 30.3 completion per
centage.
Princeton and Florida State are
the only teams which have not al
lowed a touchdown pass.
