Professor Notes Rising Interest In G. B. Shaw George Bernard Shaw, the man of many talents and long years on the London scene, is destined to occupy one of the more prominent places in Twentieth Century liter ature, according to Dr. E. E. Shaw’s fame took a natural dip following his death in 1950 but in dications that his posthumous fame are rising have been noted by Stokes. “I believe,” Stokes said, “a res pectable nucleus of his works will survive, but that Shaw will have an even more important place in his role as a thinker.” Shaw gained fame as a music and drama critic before he became a playwright and social thinker, a thinker more noted for synthesiz ing the thoughts of others than for originality. Deadline Nears For Development Fund Suggestions Saturday is the last day that former students may offer sugges tions to the Association of Form er Students Development Fund Project Committee, J. B. Hervey, secretary of the Association, an nounced Wednesday. Herman Brown, instructor in the Department of Agricultural Educa tion and chapter adviser, said Mel- vyn Hausenfluke, president of the chapter, and Jay Grimes, past vice president, will attend with him as elected representatives. THE CONVENTION is one of the highlights of the FFA year. Sessions will include a national public speaking contest, recogni tion of outstanding achievements, a business meeting, demonstration and promotion of leadership train ing and election of new officers. Collegiate chapter members will assist with supervising delegates from high schools throughout Texas. Brown estimates 500 high school FFA members from Texas will attend the convention. Brown, Hausenfluke and Grimes also will attend the 11th annual conference of student teachers in agricultural education to be held in conjunction with the FFA Con vention. He qualified as a member of the Corsicana team which placed first in state com petition last May.
