Whitmore of the Jet Propulsion Lab in California will speak about “Containment of Mag netic Fields in Super Conducting Material” in a seminar sponsored by the Department of Nuclear En gineering Apr. 6. The seminar will be in Room 146 of the Physics Building at 3 p.m. Also speaking will be Dr. H. J. Stein of the Sandia Corporation Df Albuquerque, N.M. His topic will be “Radiation Damage in Crystalline Solids.” Other seminars to be held dui - - ing April will include “Determina tion of the Period-Reactivity Re lation and Open-Loop Reactor Transfer from Rod-Drop Decay Data,” by R. Tittle, chairman, De partment of Mechanical Engineer ing at SMU, will speak Apr. 4 in the All-Faiths Chapel. Tittle will speak on “Man’s Pur pose in Life” at 7:30. The gen eral public is invited. Tittle has his Ph.D. in nuclear physics from Massachusetts Insti tute of Technology. He did some of the early definitive work in neu tron physics during and immedi ately after World War II. Two of his early papers have been des ignated by the National Associa tion of Geologists and Geophysi cists as classics in their specialty. His appearance is being spon sored by the Chapel Committee, the YMCA, Interfaith Council, the Newman Club, Student Christian Federation, Rabbi Henry A. Cohen Award, B’nai B’rith Hillel Foun dation and Gamma Delta. John Lucas, graduate assistant in the Department of Education and Psychology, said in a recent report that the course offerings are in school administration, su pervision, counseling, advanced methods of teaching and educa tional leadership. His study showed that 51 of the students are education majors, seven are industrial education ma jors, two are sociology majors, one is majoring in English and one in agricultural education. Evening students have attended 26 different colleges and univer sities in the state, and 16 in other states.
