Richard Bel- ler and Chuch McGuire were the pitchers against Sam Houston. SMU’s Coach Alex Hooks has two fine baseball players in out fielder Jim Togo and shortstop David Thornton, acording to Chand ler. McGuire will start on the mound for the Aggies against SMU, Chandler said. McGuire has pitch ed in two games for A&M this spring and has yet to have a de cision. He has compiled a 3.38 earned run average in two contests. Chandler indicated tViat Beller and sophomore Johnny Crain will be ready in the bullpen if Mc Guire should run into any trou ble. Beller has an amazing 3-0 re cord through four games; Crain has hurled in one game and has a 0-0 mark. Bob Collins, the senior chunk er who broke his arm last sum mer while playing semi-pro ball in Brenham, picked up the other victory as he pitched an inning against St. Mary’s. A&M’s star slugger through the first four games has been first baseman-outfielder Frank Stark, a sophomore from Davenport, Iowa. Stark has slammed three home-runs, good for three RBIs, and has a .545 batting average. Since footballer George Hargett, who started the Aggies’ first two games in centerfield, is suffering from a knee injury. Chandler will start Robert McAdams or Charlie Watkins in that spot. Watkins is just recovering from a hip in jury. Chandler said he will platoon catchers Bill Puckett and Arthur Uresti and first baseman Stark and Burton. O Would you volunteer to man the first space station if odds on survival were 50-50? R. E. Merritt R. E. Merritt, a sophomore sprinter from AndrewSjisI of Coach Charlie Thomas’ star quartermilers.
