'"kli Page 2 THE BATTALION College Station, Texas Thursday, November 9, 1961 CADET SLOUCH by Jim Earle Pass In Review New order for the Corps of Cadets, dated 7 November 1961: complains that freshman cadets are being 1 five to ten minutes late to class each day. Says the order: “Commanders are directed to see that this situation is corrected and that all 3rd and 4th classmen who have classes at 0800 hours are on their way to class prior to 0845 hours.” ★ ★ ★ Stump Selensky, self-made problem solver, has opened a problem consultant service similar to the column, “Dear Abbie.” Not to be published, this service is offered free to all Ag’gies who will mail their problems in to him along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. His box number is 2993 College Station. To add realism,- why not address it to “Dear Aggies?” Robert Richardson, reknowned parachute jumper about campus, took advantage of a unique opportunity recently; while floating down from about 5,000 feet, he noticed two sophomores and their dates far out “in the woods” near the jumping area. From 400 feet up, he hollered, “Howdy!” Needless to say, the two couples were startled! Later it was discovered the two boys were freshmen in Richardson’s outfit last year. Having worked in conjunction . with Coach Myers on the corri dor formed by the Corps be tween Henderson Hall and Sbisa Dining Hall on the morning of the Baylor game, I realized that the purpose of the letter was to thank the Corps for this partic ular action. However, I failed to make this fact known. Please accept my apology. As far as supporting the team is concerned, it is clearly evident CHANGED PLANS ROANOKE, . Va. OP)—Came the day for ground breaking for the new City Rescue Mission building. Howard Sigmon, president, wielded a shovel but his spading failed— the site was paved underneath the weeds. He tried again with a mechanical shovel and turned dirt. from the game attendance that the civilian students are doing their part. This was especially true at the Arkansas game. Ci vilian student support is also evident in the expected partici pation of civilian students in the building of the bonfire. I agree with what Mr. O’Neil said—“United we stand, divided we fall”—and if the civilian stu dents haven’t been recognized it was certainly not intentional.
