Neither Has The Coach! ville. Lost—one 180-pound, 6-2, pitcher who hails from Kerr- Fish ‘X’ was last seen on Kyle Field’s practice diamond, and was throwing strikes over the plate quite consistantly. But now, no one knows where the player has gone. It all started yesterday when varsity Coach Tom Chand ler asked freshman Coach J. B. Carroll how the “big pitcher” from Kerrville was doing. With a slight pause for some thinking, Carroll said, “We don’t have any pitchers from Kerrville.” After a short investigation, the two coaches agreed that the boy had been put on the first “cut list” by mistake. If they could have found the list of boys who were cut from the squad the first time, the problem would have been solved. But the list is lost too. And the boy’s name and whereabouts are still unknown, but Chandler said, “He showed lots of stuff in drills and I’m begging him to report back to practice.” So, if anyone sees someone fitting the pitcher’s de scription—send him to see Coach Chandler. Fish Open Season Against Allen By LARRY SMITH The Aggie Fish baseball season gets underway next Monday at 3 p.m. on Kyle Field as the Fish meet the Allen Academy Ramblers. Fish Coach J. B. Carroll, for mer star outfielder for the Aggies, said that his boys have been look ing good in practice especially last Saturday in an intrasquad game with the varsity. “We may have some power this season, from such men as Roger Crouch from Kilgore, Robert Me. Adams from Spring Branch and Bill Hancock from Shreveport (Byrd),” Carroll said. Carroll said that there was not a really, big star on the Fish squad this year, but they all are good team men. Considerable help is expected from the Fish footballers who at the present are going through spring training. The Fish who are expected are Ronnie Carpen ter, George Hargett, Jim Linn- staedter, Jerry Pizzatola and Ed die Hall. Carroll has already received help from the Fish basketball team as Dave Johnson and Chuck Mc Guire have begun workouts. The Fish will have one of the best pitchers in the high school ranks last year—Johnny • Crain from Bellaire. Crain helped pitch the Cardinals to the 4A State Varsity Meets UofD Tomorrow at 3 p.m. The Varsity baseball team will go after its second win in a row tomorrow as they meet the Uni versity of Dallas Crusaders at 3 p.m. on Kyle Field. Earlier in the week the Cadets downed the Rice Owls, 6-3 in Hous ton for their first win in two starts. In the first game with Sam Houston, 'where the Aggies were beaten, 7-5, errors tore the game apart. But, the miscues were few er against Rice which indicates some improvement. Also in the improvement department, the Ca dets are coming up with better hitting. In the Sam Houston game they only collected four hits and got 10 against Rice. Leading Hitters The leading hitters so far this season are Stuffy Davis and Ray Hall. Both are outfielders and have three hits each. Hall got two hits against Sam Houston and one against Rice, while Davis went three for four in the Owl game after being hitless in the opener. Although the Aggies have had 10 runs scored on them in two games, only one of the runs was earned. This run came as the re sult of a triple in the Rice game off winning pitcher, Bob Collins. Pitchers Coach Tom Chandler has slated Mike Spence, Don Costlow and pos sibly Olen Jordan for pitching du- For The Best Banquet Service Anywhere Plan Your Banquet At The TRIANGLE RESTAURANT FOR WEDDINGS AND WEDDING RECEPTIONS Midway Plan Now At The Triangle — CALL MRS. Jordan’s only appearance for the year was against Rice as he threw for one inning.
