But when Dick Kazmaier says that, you have to listen. It was only a decade ago that he twice won All-America honors playing for Princeton as an of fensive halfback in the platoon days. He’s a keen, intelligent ob server, and for most of the past 10 years he has been close enough to the Ivy League scene to see what’s happening. In 1959 Ivy experts voted him the league player of the decade. Dick returned to the sports world today in a new, role. He has just been made president of a group that has a big string of bowling establishments through the South. In it he will be associ ated with such sports figures as golfers Sam Snead, Jay and Lionel Hebert and Walter Burkemo, and Jack Thomas Joins A&M Football Staff Mississippi Southern assistant football coach Jack Thomas has re signed his position to accept a similar post at A&M, it was an nounced yesterday. Getting back to football, Kaz- maier said: “Let’s face it, Ivy League foot ball no longer is attractive to the general public. They’ll still get some good players, and they’ll get the alumni and the students in the stands. But the way they’re run ning things, Joe Fan just isn’t interested. “Actually, the Middle Atlantic teams, like Rutgers, Bucknell, Delaware and some of the others, play just as good football as the Ivy teams now. It never used to be that way.” Kazmaier cites the Ivy League ban on spring practice, rules re stricting the activities of coaches and a few prohibitions enforced by the schools separately. “I criticize them on some points, but I’m 100 per cent in favor of most of their policies,” he said. “I believe a football player should be admitted just like any other student and should be treated like any other student. I don’t think he should get any financial help unless he can earn ill studies. “But they handicap fo players by not allowing enough time to learn the gat Vikings Stock 36 Veterans; Wrestles With Schedulti By The Associated Press NEW YORK—The Minnesota Vikings today were busy stocking their new National Football League roster with 36 veterans while the league wrestled with its scheduling problems.
