TO TOUR IIOL Y LAND
Gay’s Dream Becomes Reality
Plan Tour
Mr. and Mrs. J. Gordon Gay of College Station look at some
of the global points they will visit on a tour of the Holy
Land and other areas. Gay has for 32 years been co-ordina
tor of religious life and general secretary of the YMCA on
the A&M campus. The Gays will leave June 2 and return
on July 14.
J. Gordon Gay, coordinator of
Religious Life and general secre
tary of the YMCA at A&M will
leave soon on a tour of the Holy
Land that will be the culmination
of a lifelong dream.
He will fly from New York
June 2 and return on July 14. His
wife, Emma, will make the jour
ney with him.
An anonymous group of former
A&M students is making the tour
possible by raising funds amount
ing to $3,300. The drive is an ex
pression of their appreciation of
Gay’s services to Aggies over a
period of 32 years. He is the oldest
student YMCA secretary in point
of service in the United States,
having served in that capacity for
34 years.
Tall, soft-spoken and obviously
filled with the humility and inner-
contentment of genuine faitih,
Gay said the trip will mark a high
point in his and his wife’s life.
“I never thought we would have
this chance. We are realizing a
lifetime ambition,” he said. “It’s
very gratifying to know that
enough people think this much of
us to make the tour possible.”
The Gays will participate in the
Arthur Smith Holy Land Tour.
Smith, a professor, holds the Bap
tist Chair of Bible at A&M.
Touring the Holy Land area act
ually is only part of the overall
trip. In addition to visiting Le
banon, the Gays will travel to
Greece, Italy, France, Austria,
Switzerland, Denmark, Norway,
Scotland and England.
At Oberammergau in Austria,
^people are (

they will attend the famed Pas-1 Gay said the trip will mark
sion Play, which is given during another outstanding event in his
only one year of each decade. The | life. It will be his first ride in
