Sponsor of A&M’s only official bowling team, this committee, under Chairman John Pocina, ’61, promotes bowling tourna ments among A&M students and with other colleges and uni versities. BRIDGE . . . convenes weekly to play bridge and discuss plays. Beginners are always welcome. Chairman is Wiley Bunion, ’61. BROWSING LIBRARY . . . is in charge of selecting periodicals and books placed in the MSC library and determining policy for its use. Don Zirkle, ’60, chairman. CAMERA CLUB . . . Billy Ray Smith and Bernard Williamson, both ’60, head the Camera Club, with its fully equipped darkrooms. Brings out standing phoio exhibits to the MSC and sponsors club contests. CHESS . . . sponsors campus chess tournaments, intercollegiate matches and weekly chess sessions. Chairman is Kenneth Allen, ’60. CREATIVE ARTS . . . provides free art lessons to Aggies in all types of art—oils, watercolor, sketching, leather work, ceramics, metals, plastic and woodwork. Also organizes art exhibits for the MSC pro menade area. ‘ * DANCE . . . sponsors instruction in all types of ballroom dancing and nu merous dances during the year, including the famous Aggie v version of a French nightclub, ‘‘Cafe Rue Pinalle”. Registra tion for Dance Classes will begin 8 p. m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 in the Ballroom. Dance Chairman is Frank Callahan, ’61. EVALUATION . . . studies the various MSC activity committees in order to help make the MSC student program as effective as possible in accomplishing its aim to serve the students of A&M. Hiram T. French, ’59, chairman. FILM SOCIETY . . . shows films that have remained high on the list of motion picture triumphs through the years. Committee members se lect and make arrangements for showing these films. Season tickets may be obtained in the MSC Directorate Office from Ed Saenz, ’60, chairman. FLYING KADETS . . . Organized for all students on the campus who are interested in flying. Members who do not fly, but are interested in areo- nautics, are welcomed. James Willess, ‘60, chairman. GREAT ISSUES . . . i presents annually a group of internationally and nationally known speakers, discussing topics of interest to the student body, college staff and community. Presentations sponsored by this committee are open to all students who have paid their student activity fee. Community and college staff may pur chase tickets in the MSC Directorate Office. Chairman is Mike McGuire, ’60. HOUSE . . . functions as a student service committee, arranging for a lost- and-found auction, sponsoring receptions and many other civic services. Gives its members an excellent opportunity to meet people. MUSIC . . . produces the annual Aggie Talent Show, as well as the South west’s largest Intercollegiate Talent Show, featuring the best college talent from a four-state area. PERSONNEL . . . helps the many activity committees interview personnel for membership and handles the numerous personnel problems in the large and diversified student activities program in the MSC. Ed Lux, ’60, chairman. PUBLIC RELATIONS . . . brings to the attention of the campus and community the facilities and activities available in the MSC, through radio, newspaper and television. Jack Hartsfield, ’59, chairman. RADIO ... Comprised of “ham” operators and other students interested in amateur radio, and operates its own “ham shack” in the MSC. Richard McGaughy, ’61, chairman. RECITAL SERIES . . . sponsors recitals of classical music, presenting regional, na tional and international artists to students, staff and com munity. Season tickets may be obtained in the MSC Direc torate Office. All students who pay student activity fees are admitted at no additional cost. Gordon Reynolds, ’59, chair man^ STUDENT CONFERENCE ON NATIONAL AFFAIRS . . . better known as SCON A, is held annually in December for student representatives from colleges and universities across the nation. Members of the committee make the many ar rangements involved in presenting this conference. Jarrell Gibbs, ’60, chairman. TABLE TENNIS . . . Organized to promote table tennis competition among A&M students and with other colleges. Membership in this com mittee is open to both beginners and experts. Larry Winkle, ’60, chairman.
