I PAGE 4 " - • Wednesday, May 13, 1959 TKc Battalion College Station (Brazos County), Terns Saddle and Sirloin Presents Awards at Annual Banquet Robert Gooch, senior animal hus bandry major from Abilene, re ceived the most single awards at the Saddle & Sirloin Club’s annual Awards Banquet and Cattlemen’s Ball last Friday in the Ballroom of the Memorial Student Center. Gooch received the Brewer Award and the Merit Trophy as the outstanding animal husbandry senior along with the Ammie E. Wilson Award as outstanding Sad dle & Sirloin senior, the Sayer’s farmer essay contest and the Top Ham Salesman Trophy. Outstanding Saddle & Sirloin junior award was presented to Kenneth McGee, junior animal hus- bandry major from Palestine, in the form of a pen and pencil set. Donald Osbourne, from Valley Spring, was named outstanding Saddle & Sirloin sophomore, while Donald Beerwinkle from Belton was honored as outstanding Sad dle & Sirloin Club freshman. Out-going club president, Martin Graham, was presented silver spurs for his year of work, while Jim Butler, vice president; Lovell Kuykendall, secretary; John Rea- gor, treasurer; and Joe VanZandt, reporter, were presented desk sets. Dr. O. D. Butler, head of the De partment of Animal Husbandry, presented A. L. Smith, College Sta tion, and B. W. Brown, Grange rancher and businessman, with honorary memberships in the Sad dle & Sirloin Club for their con tributions to the Texas livestock industry. One of the most successful of off-Broadway playhouses is the Lighthouse Little Theater of the New York Association of the Blind. Pistol Team Gives 5 Letters Five members of the A&M Pistol Team, which has won 16 matches against five losses in postal com petition this year, have been awarded letters, according to Maj. K. D. Reel and M. Sgt. W. H. Card, coaches of the team. The lettermen are Charles Boll frass, two years and team captain; Charles Benson, two years; Henry A. Gill, two years; Cyril S. Adams and James Wilson, one year. Besides the postal matches, the team beat the Air Force Academy and the. University of Wisconsin in a triangular match at the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs. They have sent repre sentatives to the Houston Bayou Rifle Club matches each month in which they have won several medals. A four-man team and six individ uals were entered in the National Rifle Assn. Intercollegiate League in which Gill took fourth place with a bronze medal in the indi vidual matches. The team participated in the U. S. Revolver Assn. Intercolle giate League, placing sixth out of eight teams this year and Gill was picked on the first team All-Amer ican in these matches. A six-man team entered the Austin Spring Pistol Tournament during March and came away with team medals as first place sharp shooter team ift the .45 caliber match. James Wilson gathered in 14 out of 17 possible places covering all three calibers of guns, including first sharpshooter grand aggregate. Benson and Bollfrass each took two medals in their class. In the team championship match for the year, Bollfrass again won out has the best shooter and re ceived a bar to put on the medal he received last year.
