PAGE 4 Tuesday, April 21,1959 TKe Battalion College Station (Brazos County?, Texat Archivist to Give Illustrated Lecture Dr. Hans Pauer, noted authority on the preservation of documents and works of art, will present an illustrated lecture on the Habs- bui’g Monarchy tonight at 8 in the Biological Sciences Lecture Room. Dr. Pauer, who is on a lecture tour of the United States, is be ing sponsored for this lecture by the A&M Department of History and Government and the Graduate School. He studied at the University of Vienna, majoring in modern languages, history of art and the theatre. He received his Ph. D. in 1927 with honors. In 1933, he entered the Austrian government service as a film specialist and was placed in charge of the audio-visual aids program of the Austrian Ministry of Education. Since 1938, he has been assigned to the Austrian Na tional Library where he rearrang ed the cataloging of some 250,000 photographic negatives. He was made director in 1946 of the great “Portrait Collection” of the Library of Congress. During the following years, he reorganized this comprehensive collection of about 600,000 por traits, representing famous per sonalities of all countries, times, and occupations up to the present time. Livestock Contest Set Here May 9 The Department of Animal Hus bandry is now making prepara tions for the Little Southwestern Livestock Showmanship Contest to be held on the campus May 9. Registration for the contest, sponsored by the Saddle anjd Sir loin Club, will be conducted in the first floor lobby of the Animal Husbandry Building and will con tinue through April 7. Contestants competing in the event will be assigned animals be longing to the college and will have a certain amount of time to pre pare them for showing. Judging in the different classi fications will be based on show manship qualities and not on qual ities of the animals.
