PAGE 4 Friday, March 20,1959 The Battalion College Station {Brazos County?, Texas Exchange Students Impressed byA&M By BOB ROBERTS Battalion Staff Writer “Americans are hard-working 1 , but still enjoy a great deal of lei sure time. We have enjoyed work ing in this country very much.” This was the statement made by Dr. Hyun Soo Lee and Dr. Jung Kyu Kim, exchange students at A&M this semester. Lee and Kim, both from South Korea, are studying in this coun try through the efforts of the In ternational Corporation Adminis tration. The ICA is part of the foreign student exchange program which the U. S. government is helping sponsor. The government helps finance technical training in America colleges for foreign students. Both men are working with the School of Veterinary Medicine here. Both have doctor’s degrees in veterinary medicine—Lee is a bacteriologist and Kim is a virus specialist. Lee said the ICA recommended A&M for their study while in the United States, They will be here Iota Lambda Sigma Plans Initiation Iota Lambda Sigma, the Indus trial Education National Honor' Society, will hold its spring ban quet and initiation of new members in the Memorial Student Center Assembly Room Monday at 6 p. m. Six new members were accepted for initiation for the spring semes- te?’. Selected were Jerry Jones, James Sterling, Hoy Richards, James Polk, Bob Holifield and Jim Riggs. After the initiation, each will receive a gold key and a mem bership card, signifying his mem bership in the society. To become a member of the society, the student must maintain an overall grade point ratio of 1.5 and a 2-0 in industrial education. He must also be of junior classi fication and of good character. for the spring semester only. Af ter leaving A&M, Lee is going to the Jensen-Salsbury Laboratories in Kansas City for five months. Dr. Kim, who has only one month left in this country after this semester, is unsure of his next des tination. Kim, 32, received his degree from the Jinju Agriculture Col lege of South Korea. He served as a second lieutenant in the medical corps of the South Korean Army during the Korean War on special orders. He has a brother who is a captain in the South Korean Ma rine Coi-ps. He is married and has four children, two boys and two girls. His family is living in Pusan, South Korea, while he is in the United States. Lee, 41, received his degree at the American-staffed Seoul Uni versity in Seoul. He also served on special detail for the South Ko rean Army during the Korean War as a first lieutenant for the Korean National Institute of Vet erinary Research. \ Born in Chiju, Lee had polio in his left leg when he was 37, but has now completely recovered. He is married and has five children, two boys and three girls. His wife .and children are living in Pusan, on the southern coast of Korea, while he is in the U. S. Speaking about A&M, Kim said, “I like it here very much, the people are very kind and helpful.” Lee likes it here also. He said, “I like to study here very much, it is a very good school.” Do-it-yourself enthusiasts spend 60 million dollars annually on tools for the home. THE CHURCH FOR ALL ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor -civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (I) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which heeds his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. Day Book Chapter Verses Sunday Luke Monday John Tuesday John Wednesday John Thursday John Friday John Saturday John 28-44 1-14 15-27 28-40 1-16 17-30 31-42 Sunday is a special day for Sheila. She likes to go to church. For one thing, the church is beautiful. Sheila likes to look at the soft light filtering through the colored glass windows. She likes the delicate scent of the beautiful flowers, and the majestic tones of the organ. She likes to sing, too, and she knows several hymns “all the way through,” even without the hymnal to guide her. She pai-ticularly likes this season because she knows that Palm Sunday is a time for special rejoicing in the Church. Sheila feels the way she does because her par ents have taught her that going to church is a privilege and a joy. Is Sunday just another day for your child, or is it—as it is for Sheila—a special day? Copyright 19$9, Keister Adv.
